Plymouth & Devonport circuit Trustees report for year ending August 2025 Sherwell United Church submit their annual report and financial ststements for the year ending August 2025. the Trustees have adopted the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Prattice {SORP) Accounting and reporting by Charities, effective l January 2015, in preparing the Annual Report and Financial Statements of the charity. STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT The General Church Meeting, meets regularly during the year and all major policies and decisions recommended by the Trustees are brought to this meeting of the whole church for final decisions to be made. Sherwell United Church-vision Statements To be a church where people feel supported in every area of their lives and to be seen as relevant by those it serves. We are a community of believers who have a heart for God and are living with the purpose of sharing that God with others. MISSIONALOUTREACH As part of our misssional outreach the following organisations use the premises free of charge. University of Plymouth. with International Dinners and pastoral support for a lady who runs a 'community choir, and The Rainbow Project. Page 2 Sherwell United Church, Plymouth & Devonport Circuit Trustees Report continued- year ending August 2025 ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE This year has again been busy with our 'warm welcome, continuing, followed on one Wednesday in the month by a time of worship. One of the groups that rent our building have during the year put on an art exhibition for its students and the public. We also continue to support Food Aid. The Rainbow Project Plymouth and International Dinners. which encourages people of different cultures to come together for food and fellowship. DROPS is a place for creatives to meet and enjoy story telling. poetry, immersive experiences and then discuss how God is refletted in these things. FINANCIAL REVIEW Sherwell has a current account with CAF Bank. Our bookkeeper still keeps us on track, and there are still unexpected expenses. Our building repairs are at a stage now where we have accepted a quote for the work to be done and we are working with URC synod to move on with the project. The building project will cost in the region of £450,000. So we are looking to apply for grants as well as raisin8 funds within the church. RESERVES POLICY Sherwell United Church reserve policy has been amended and we now hold 6 months expenditure in reserve. INVESTMENT Sherwell United Church has a current account with CAF bank Ltd, it as an account with the Central Finance Board and Trust funds with both TMCP and the URC. OTHER POLICES The Trustees regularly review risk assessment policy along with evacuation procedure and health and safety policy. A Legionella assessment has been carried out within the last 12 months. FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS The church continues to be used for Mission with the addition of a Food Aid group using the building. Immersion continues and a community choir has been started with a couple of dozen people attending. This year we a￿ one of the churches in Plymouth hosting Project 58.7, which is a project run by PATH to give homeless people a bed during the winter months. December we will be hosting 'Let's Face it, which is an instsllation which has travelled around the Methodist South West Peninsular.
