## **Trustees Report** Dear All The trustees of Antoin Akpom Achievements Foundation would like to thank all those who supported us throughout this challenging year April 2022 – March 23. Both successful and challenging experiences came our way. Two Key Project leaders unfortunately had absences through unexpected illnesses, which caused a delay in applying for funding. It made better sense to follow on existing projects using templates already evidenced that were productive to delivering successfully. We were able to collaborate with partners and join resources to deliver workshops. The charity was successful in gaining funds (£1,500) from Community Foundation Leicestershire & Rutland, topped up by bringing forward monies from latter 2021 along with fundraising carried out by AAA foundation and donations given. However, we are encouraged knowing that the work carried out by the charity had a positive impact in the community empowering others and implementing change. Positive feedback from both participants and community groups who were involved in this year’s projects and workshops This year has proved to be yet another challenging year. We were able to bring together our skills and resilience with the support of our community to overcome hurdles and continue deliver to the best of our ability as well as empower those around us. Despite all adversities we managed to deliver a range of workshops and projects along with community group discussions. Some of the highlights this year were our County Road show where we engaged 2,300 inclusive participants on the project. A further 64 young people involved in workshops. We did a joint venture program with Leicestershire Cares, involving 20 young people from Highfields and St Matthews. The group visited the Parliament Education Department in Westminster where they were able to attend a workshop involving role play on how debates are carried out in Parliament along with a tour of the House of Commons. 4 young people from the county volunteered in working behind the scenes and the parade of Leicester Caribbean Carnival. 20 young people from NCS took part in making carnival costumes for the first time and took part in a workshop learning about Leicester Caribbean Carnival. 5 young people had the opportunity to volunteer as hosts with Drum Brass at the Curve Theatre. Not forgetting our Art exhibition in Leicester City Centre displaying Charity Registration number 1173362 Registered address: 78 Granby Street Leicester LE1 1 DJ young people’s artwork, 15 young people volunteered as hosts at the AAA Foundation Award Event. Online discussions and classroom-based meetings engaging with VRN (Violence Reduction Network) Leicestershire Cares and other community organisations addressing youth violence and knife crime along with discussions on Youth Voice led events. Outreach work with outspoken, Karl in the community, First Contact and schools/colleges in Leicestershire County. The charity was able to develop closer working relationships with its existing partnerships and forge new ones from the second cohort of the VRN Leadership Team Organisations. Highlight of the year was the AAA Foundation Awards which was presented by Cllr George Cole Lord Mayor of Leicester, Rob Nixon Chief Constable, Cllr Kirk Masters, Cllr Deepak Baja Hi Bailiff of Leicestershire, Romail Gulzar Pukaar Group, Sandi Bogle Goggle Box, Dr Pauling Long BEFFTA Founder, Motivational Speaker, TV Presenter, Mr Balbir Singh Royal Officer, Grace Strong Strategic Director VRN (Violence Reduction Network), Lisa Wilkinson Community & Young Person Involvement Officer. This was an amazing platform in recognising and appreciating young people with in the community along with a platform for young people to demonstrate their skills and artistic talents. Participant comments
The work that AAA Foundation does is so important within the communities of
Leicester and Leicestershire. The award event that took place in memory of
Antoin brought communities together from all over Leicester and
Leicestershire to celebrate his legacy whilst celebrating the success of young
people and leaders in the community. The event involved skills development
and work experience training for the young people who served and hosted at
the event, whilst also recognising the success of other young people’s hard
work and achievements within their communities through the awards
ceremony. The event is a great example of community cohesion and one that
truly brings everyone together thanks to the fantastic work of AAA Foundation.

The AAA foundation provides a great service to the local and wider communities of
Leicester and we have been a witness of this via the award show they had in November
2022. We were able to first hand see their work and efforts put into the community and
being awarded by them allowed us to use such credibility to curate firm relationships and a
enhanced network within what we do.
The AAA foundation definitely inspires the young generation and we have no doubt they’ll
continue to shine throughout the foreseeable future. We appreciate the support and help
they have provided us as young community mentors
The Waves of Positivity Team
I have always struggled with anxiety since secondary school. The pandemic
made this worse as I was unsure of my grades and how my college
experience would be. Throughout my A Levels, I had been quite reserved
and did not enjoy it too much. This changed when I began to help out in the
community and started volunteering. It helped me so much. I learnt how to be
confident, how to work well under pressure, how to lead a team,
organisational skills etc. I’m so grateful for that because I would not be how I
am now without all of that experience. Now, I do not feel like an imposter on
my degree course, I have had loads of amazing experiences, and met the
most inspiring people and I will forever be grateful.
