The management committee was re-structured at the AGM (October 2024) and now consists of five trustees, and a change of Chairperson. The Secretary passed away unexpectedly in April 2024 and this role was filled by an existing Trustee, with approval of the other Trustees. There are, also, three administrators and one consultant trainer/behaviourist. 

The charity works closely with a number of recognised rescue organisations throughout mainland Europe in the pursuance of rescuing and caring for abused and abandoned Setters and Setter Cross Breeds, offering financial and moral support. 

- Allocation of donations are considered on merit and agreed by trustees’ vote. 

Settusfree reserves the right to sever any relationship with a rescue partner whose operating procedures do not meet the standards required by this charity.

All dogs coming into the UK are imported in compliance with the DEFRA/APHA regulations on the import of animals. All adoption homes are checked for suitability, safety and security and are made aware of escape behaviour of Setters that have been used for hunting. 

All new owners are encouraged to take out pet insurance.

All grants and donations made by the charity are ratified by the trustees and fully documented with regard to how these funds were used. 

All volunteers and members of the Admin Team, of which the trustees are a part, give of their time freely without pecuniary reward.

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year** 

In this fiscal year a total of 47 abused or abandoned Setters have been helped by Settusfree. 

All rescue dogs taken under the wing of the charity have a home to go to before they travel from their country of origin, and all are properly prepared for travel following health checks and vaccinations and all travel documentation is checked for compliance with border regulations. 

Our financial support for our European partners was increased early in 2023 to help meet the ever-increasing costs of kennelling and health care. 

Fund-raising remains robust and the charity’s financial situation remains healthy thanks to careful management.
