To promote and educate members and the general public in the musical arts
with partlcular reference to music presented by brass bands, by means of

Durln8 the year of thi5 report. a total of 34 paid or community enga8eme•ts
were performed bythe v3riOU5 bands and groups of the OrÈan15ation, In
addition to the annual Whlt Friday Marches and the organi$3tlon's tswn
concerts. Ttswll Band rehear531s were held twSce a week on Tuesday and
Thursday evenings, cOn￿rt Brass rehearsèls held on Monday evenln85 and
Progress Brass on Wednesday evenlngs.
Town 88nd. Bedford Town Band competed in 2 contests during the year.the
Area Contest in Stevenage and the Wychavon Entertalnment Contest. The Band
performed at cTvic and community events including the VE 80th Arnlver58ry
ComrneFnoration, the swearinB-in ceretnony for the new Leader of the Local
Authorlty, the Kite FestSval, St George's Day, the Bedford Remembrance Day
service and a memorlal concert In memory of a lon8-setvins trustee. Town Band
81s0 perforrnecl 3t the BambÈrg Festival and 8ave its annual Christmas con￿rt.
Several of these clvic and charitable enEageTnents were performed free of
charge as a contribution to the local community.
Chrlstmas Ensemble I-BTB Crlmble Club"), a part of Town Band, gave 9
performances across the Christmas perlod at venues including Fairfield House,
the 8edford Club, BedfoTd Athletic and Several local pubs
the only section of
the band to grow Its Chrlstmas incorne year-on-year.
Concert Brass performed 8 concerts and engagements durlng the year,
including a 25th birthday celebration concert for the Priory Hospice, a charlty
concert for the MS Society, and concerts at Wixams, for the Wilstead Women's
Institute and in Leighton Buzzard, together with the annual'carols in the
Carpark" event. An augmented Concert Brass again attended the annual Whlt
Frlday Marches contest in Saddleworth, Greater Manchester, an eventthe band
runs on a self-fundin8 basis.
Progres5 Brass performed 4 engagements durlng the year, including paid
concert5 at Oakhill Place and Oakway retirement communities, and community
performances for Tesco's local charity fundraising. The Band has continued to
see steady interest from members returning to playing or learning from scratch.
8rass Academy Continued through the year, with 10 members receiving tuition
and taking part in Bedford Town Band concerts, supptsrting the pipeline of
young and beginner musiclans into the wider organisation.
Joint Ensemble, a group drawing players from acrc15s all sertions of the band,
performed 3 engagements during the year, including two Tesco's charity
fundraising performances and the "Caro15 by Candlelighy, concert- refletting
the Organlsatlon's continued work to bring members of different sections
together to perform.
