Charity Structure and Managemen�

L A nominally paid part-time CEO oversees the charity and its operations, and reports into the Board of Trustees which consists of five volunteer trustees'

L A volunteer leadership team is responsible for running the various departments within the charity'

• L A total of 47 volunteers carried out work to support our mission during 2022/23'

L Additionally 6 professionally qualified and experienced therapists (paid as contractors), including a Lead Therapist, oversee and deliver our key services to families.

Activities and Objectives for the yea�

L Launch our Flagship First Steps programme, deliver our first services to a target family and enabling expansion to multiple families over time.@

L Develop multiple new online resources for parents of autistic children, in order to expand both the number of families and the age range of autistic children the charity is able to reach and support'

L Establish the foundations of our fundraising strategy to fund the implementation and growth of our programmes in the future'

L Expand the talent and capabilities of the charity by building out our board of trustees, volunteers and therapist communities allowing for future expansion of our services.

Achievements and Performance as well as public benefi�

L Officially launched our Flagship First Steps programme to the public. First Steps is our intensive in-home family support programme focusing on promoting optimal communications between the autistic child and their caregivers and empowering families to build strong relationships with them. First Steps is available to families with autistic toddlers and young children (age three or less) who are diagnosed with or showing signs of autism. Three families completed the programme in 2022/3. See the impact our First Steps programme is having on families'

L Developed our new series of free online Webinars, where parents and carers can learn about different aspects of bringing up an autistic child from our experienced therapists. This will greatly expand the number of families we can bring real value to when launched in 2023/24'

L Developed our 12-week Confident Parenting Workshops, enabling parents or carers of up to ten autistic children from across the UK to come together online to learn how to optimally support their autistic child. This will make the essence of our First Steps programme available to an extended group of families when it launches in 2023/24, and extends the age range of our services to children up to 12 years of age'

L Built out our Board of Trustees, with three longstanding volunteer board members plus the appointment of a Chairperson and a Treasurer within the year. Both individuals subsequently stepped down after the year-end, but the roles have subsequently been filled'

• L Built out our volunteer and therapist community, with 47 volunteers and 6 therapists supporting our mission during the year'

L Launched several new fundraising activities including our March for Autism, Virtual Balloon Race and Parachute Jumping campaigns.

Finances

Gross income for the year was £67,920, which was up £43,615 or 179% from the prior year. The charity’s principal sources of funds for the year were from donations from Trust and Foundations and Individuals. In addition, the charity receives a small amount of funds from contributions for services from the families it supports through its programmes. Fundraising increased due to the launch of our First Steps programme and our new fundraising initiatives.

Expenditure for the year was £30,513, which was up £19,306 or 172% from the prior year. This was due to increased spending on family services therapists to design and deliver our First Steps programme during the year, and increased fundraising, marketing and public relations spend to grow the charity.

Net income for the year was £37,407, up £24,309 or 186% from the prior year. This resulted in our cash balance increasing to £51,090 at the end of the fiscal year, which will allow the Charity to continue to expand its services in 2023/24 and beyond.

Reserves Policy

Reserves are needed to bridge the gap between the spending and receiving of resources, and to cover for any unplanned expenditures. The Trustees consider that the ideal level of reserves is a minimum of three months of expected spend. Therefore, the target was £8,000 in reserves from unrestricted funds. The Board of Trustees are confident that at this level they would be able to continue the current activities of the charity in the event of a significant drop in funding in the short-term. The level of unrestricted cash available to the charity at the end of the 2022/23 fiscal year was £23,675 which was in excess of the reserve policy amount.
