Apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee is appointed for a term of three Trustee selection methods years by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity (eg. appointed by, elected by) trustees.

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

Through its unique summer school, the charity aims to transform the mindset and life opportunities of young people in Romania with strong academic potential who come from less privileged backgrounds.

Today, we are a community of five alumni cohorts, supported by over 40 volunteers, who are confidently building a future for themselves and contributing to their communities.

In 2023/2024, our focus has been on maintaining connections with the wider alumni network, the volunteer team, and key partners while navigating a challenging period. This has been triggered by a number of changes, including a smaller team, fewer resources, and ongoing uncertainties following Brexit. As a result, our flagship summer school programme was not held, and neither smaller in-person events nor online programmes took place during this period.

Nevertheless, the extended Oxford for Romania network continued to support the existing alumni community through mentorship and informal engagement. In addition, small alumni meetings were organised by members of the alumni community.

Achievements against objectives set:

Despite the cancellation of the summer school, we maintained our core team and continued to stay closely connected with our volunteers. At the same time, we worked on further developing the Oxford for Romania curriculum while keeping regular contact with our alumni community.

Performance of fundraising activities against objectives set

During the reporting period, £491 was raised through online fundraising. This is significantly below our usual annual target and reflects the organisational changes currently underway, as well as the absence of major fundraising events during the period.
