Seasons for Giowih is a grief educallon programme that helps part￿1panIS understand the feelings associated
with loss. The faalilalor supports a srnall peer group lo explore and manage feelings, develop coping ski115 and
gain knowledge about what Is happening to thèm physically, soaally and emotlon8lly.
Seasons for Growth is a validated prograrnme that originated in Australia and is now used in sever81 countries.
Partiapant5 use a journal provided by the faalilalor known as a 'cornpanion'. The 'companion' has been trained
lo usè a manual to deliver B one hour sessmjn over an 81ght-week period.
The Se8sons for Growth programme 18 Wrten at four level8 for childfenfyoung people. and Ihere is an addlllot)al
programme written at adutt level. This enables the'companion, lo choose th8 level most appropriate to the group.
This enables access lo the programrne al all levels and abilllies from the age of 5 years when thè young person
has Cogniti￿ ability to gain knowledge and skills, right through to adulthood.
The beneffts extènd to anyone who is griewng regardless of Ihelr loss. Written 3$ part of the Austr81ian Youth
Suicide Prevenllon Programme In the mid 199CI's, the programme has been regularly updated and evaluated.
Central to the programme is that there is no comparison of Ios8 SO that particip8t)ts are able lo usè the
knowledge and skllls they gain on the Course at an age and ability appropriate level. Used in communty settings
such as schools and Ilbraries. the small pe8r group can tsk& place al any setting where peopk of similar age and
ability come tijgether.
Thè advancement of •ducation.' For the public benefft. Seasons for Growth pro¥Ades an opportunity lo develop
the Indiwdual capabilities, competence, sknlls and understanding of children. young peoplé and adults who need
relief from their experience of loss. Children and young people are supported to under3tsnd their loss and what is
happening lo them. Following a loss, children and young people are 0ft8n distracted by thoughts of what is
happening at home. Seasons for Growth Grief Education programme helps process Iheir thoughts through
improved kTwledge. skills and Coping slralegiÈs to enable better access to educats'on.
The advancement of health: For the public benefft, Seasons for Growth promotes emotional he8￿h and well-
beiryJ and seif-esleem following signtficant ￿$5. PartiClP8nt evaluations are collated lo assist in dernonslraling it
reaches the purpose of the heatth promoting adiwlies to show a proven beneficial ellect on emolional hèalth
including sew-esteem of those who have ￿perienced 8 loss. Signrf4c8nt k)ss situations ¢an include death,
separation, divor￿, famity imprisonment, loss of em￿oyMent. friendships and many more.

Achlevem•nts and perforniance
Seasons for Growth Grief Education Ltd (Seasons) continues lo develop across England and ￿leS delivering
training for supporting children, young people, and adults. Since the development of the parent support
programme has been written and delivered to parents of bereaved children lo help Ihem support thèir child, and
different parerit support programme delivered to parents of children who are exp&rienc¢ng divorce. All childrèn
and young people joumals are now provided wilh Version 3 materials, and we are in the process of havlng
joumals level 1.3 translatèd and printed in Welsh.
TTUStees and Trainérs have attended and exhibited al further Open Forum Events to reach new ¢onts¢ts to
advise them ol the programme benefits indudlng speaking at., Safeguarding Chlklren.. Delivering More Effedi
and Robust Inlervenlions, Student Mental Health.. Prevention and Inlervenlion, Children and Young People's
Mèntal Health.. Targeted, Tailored, and Timety Support, Supwrting People wlh a Le8mlng Disabillty and Aut651Sc
People. Delivering Improvement.
11 was ewdenl from these events that IheTe is an o￿tWhelmIng need for a Iler 2 intarvenl'on like our programme.
This also prompted 8 price review with the Iruslees. The website is updated lo show néw training dales and Ihgrè
is a section for Trained Companions as well as a separate s8L*on for Tfainers Only.
Following Cowd-19 restrlctlons we havo maintained some online trainings allowing us to Enèet more applicant
needs but restarted some faCe.t￿f8¢e Companion Trainings. Most Companion trainings have bÈ8n online as
travel has proved difficult for those belng reléas8d from work to attend trainings has been a challènge. The
expansion of Seasons into new areas as well 3s th8 reignition of others has induded Deborah Francis who later
opened SFG Barbados and Lynn Murphy who is developing SFG on Ihe181e of Man both of whith Seasons for
Growth England and Wales continues to support.
The Charity receives guidance and support from the Australian author of the programme arwj the Mary Mc Kilknp
foundallon. Quartarly meetings online indude Charities from New Ze8land and Scotland.
Further links have been estsblished through an experlenced companion in England who moved lo Barbados who
wtshes lo reach out lo and support children in Barbados. The companion has delivered the programme in
England for more than 10 year8 and h8s seen the benefrts to thildr8n over these years.
Through discussion with Trainer5, the 8UPPOrt through menlorshlp has been succ&8sful, partlculaty in North
Wales. The aim h8s been to increase the capacty of the trainers to offer more mentorship post training 1¢ assist
trained companions lo start their implementation of programme delivery.
Dudng this finanaal year there h8$ b8en S Children and Young People's Trainings and 1 Parènt TrainiThJ. The
inlroductlon of the new Parent Training has been welcorned and the charity hopes lo expand Sn Ihls area.
There have been 112 children and young people supported by Seasons for Growth across England. Areas
reached were. Cheshire, Greater London, Hertfordshire, Lancsshire. West YorkshSre, the Ilse of Man.
North Wales continues to be able to offer Sgasons for Growth more widety than other areas as below. The
children's joum81s are now available al PTirnary Lèvel in the Welsh language.
There are 325 Companions in North Wales
87 companions have pgistered that they have begun a group.
479 children have cornpleled questionnaires al the beginning of the group
115 leachers have completed pre programme quesllonnairès
56 companions have registered that they have finished a group.

reserves at this level will ensure that, in the event of a significalll drop in income, they will be ablè lo continue the
charity's current activities while consideration is given to ways in which additional funds may be raised. The
current levèl of funds held are necessary in order lo enable the expansion of tha charities adivilies.
The trustees has assessèd the major risks to which the charlty Is eyposed, and are sallsfled that sysl8rns are In
plac8 to mitigate exposuiÈ to the malor risks.

collaborate with Papyrus a8 Ged is a fofmer Seasons for Growih Trainer and Train the Tralner. We have explored
how the Papyrus charity aims align with the S68s0ns for Gro￿ programm6.
Elaine Tabony (Chair, Tfusteel, having mel wllh Ged and the Australian Mackillop Seasons Team and
recognislng the broader conlèxl of Seasons for Growth Griof Education as a youth suiude preVent￿n
PTogramme, can see the value of this collaboration. Ged attended a recent Seasons for Growth Companion
Training in the UK and later was obs8rved by Fiona M¢Callum. CEO Mackillop Seasons, vlsillng from Australia.
delivering a Companion Tralning. Ged is prepared lo invesl in leadlng the UK progiammes. 11 therefore makes
Sense to clos8 th8 S9ason8 for Growth Grief Educalton Ltd Chority in February 2025.
The Trustees had an agreement in prlnclple to dos8 thg Charity followtng meeting8 with Ged and Australia
August 2024. Followng this Trustees meeting we further explored how we could reach more children, young
people, parents and adults by moving our expertise and assets lo work with Papyrus. The Trustees met on 18
Novembor 2024 to agree this plan to close Seasons for Growth Grlef Education Ltd. as a charlty, early nexl year.
Karen Western an¢J Elaine T8bony are both Tr8ln8rs and Trustees and met further wtlh Gad on 21 November
2024. Elaine will Inform the Tralners with an emall lo the tralners requiring them lo agree to have Ihelr details
forwarded lo Papyrus.

charity on 19 May 2017. The charity is govefned by ils memorandum and Artlcles of Association. Tha direclors,

In 2019 the Charity commenced the employment and stsrted making payments lo the daughter of Trustee Mrs
E T8bony. Thes8 payments lolalled £11,715 12023.. £9,756) in the year, before Slalulory Maternity Laave
daims from HMRC. This ernployment was approved by the Trustees, and permission was sought and
obtained from the Charity Comm15sion accordingly. with the employment madè following an open and fair
applic8lson process. The level of remuneiallon is consistent wlth the duties required by the role, and
equivalent to the amount that would be paid lo an unrelated paty for the Same responsibilities. The
employment is overseen on an ongoing basis by the nort-conllicted Twstees, who hold regular staff appraisals
and appiove any payroll paymènts accordingly.
