Trustees Report 2024-2025 HEY Kids Type One Diabetes Children and Family Supporl Group- Trustees Report By Rachel Cook (freasurer) Objectives This Charlty has been set-up and run by Parents and Carars of Children with Type 1 Diabetes, to offer support, advice and friendship lo families affected. All Trustees are volunteers who hava a chlld with Type 1 Diabetes, who give their time freely. They benefit from the charity on the same basis as a non-Trustee member. We hold monthly support meetings and events for members and regularly ask if any of the members would like to be a Trustee to help run the group. The Trustees would also consider applications from non-members rf they have a strong interest in supporting the chariiy or the condltion (such as a medical professional) and can bring a new skill as a Iruste9. Of the Trustees, some Trustees have no specific job role and will volunteer to carry out duties, some Trustees have specific roles: Chair, Vice Chatrs, Secretary, Treasurer and Safeguarding Officers. The Charlty's objectives are to relieve the needs of children and young adults who suffer from type 1 dlabetes Ilving in Kingston upon Hull and East Rlding of Yorkshire by: (a) providing support for children, young adults, parents, families, carers and frlends of chlldren with type 1 dlabeles. (b) raising awareness and providing education about type 1 diabetes in the public eye. (cl assisting research into both a cure for and improving treatment of type 1 diabetes both financlally and empirlcally. (d} providing support to and assist the medlcal professlon. (e) working with other charities involved with type 1 diabetes. Publlc Beneflt: The below achievements detall how we have carried out our charltable purposes for the publlc benefit. Achievements: With support from Ihe hospital diabetes team. we have asked families with a chlld wlth Type 1 Diabetes to become members of our group to meet with other families experiencing the same challenges of managing the condilion. Membership is open to the families unlil their child is twenty five as many young adulls require support from their families to manage their condition. Over fifty families are currently members. We are regularly gaining new. newly diagnosed families but continue to conneot with families who have been diagnosed for some lime. As children age and develop, the support they need changes regularly wlth different difficulties being encountered along the way both for the type one children and their families too. Our web-site and soclal media channels are regularly updated to encourage more members to join and so that supporters ot Ihe charity can see details of recent and upcoming activities. Support meetings are currently held monthly. We alternate be￿een holding the support meeting at David Lloyd Gym and running an organised activity with the families.

The regular support meeting at the gym involves the children doing organised sports activities with the DL staff whilst the parents meet to support each other. discyjss a relevant topic, listen to a guest speaker relating to living with or managlng the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes. Awareness, fundraising and activity events are held throughout the year. This does nol allow funding for any additional activity events, but would ensure the group could wn support meelings, therefore it is

desirable to have more funds held so that funded activity events can be organised for the following year. Forward Planning for 2025-2026: Future events planned for the corning year, chosen based on popularty of previous events and requests from members, additional events aimed to engage older childrentyoung adults: Easter Baking with Cook Stars BBQ and Car Treasure Hunt Cinema Afternoon Clay Pigeon Shoot Fundraiser Educational Farm visit to Ihe Milk Well for yummy milkshakes and look behind the scénes. We are delighted that the charity continues to remain in a healthy position financially so we can ¢ontinue to support the many families and young people on our records.
