## **ALDERNEY WEST YOUTH CLUB ANNUAL REPORT**

## SEPTEMBER 2021 TO AUGUST 2022

As all around us fall apart, we stick together and worked through one of the toughest years.

With only a handful of volunteers, we carried on for the sake of the children.

BCP, our local council under Tory rule, behind closed door meetings, have kindly removed all funding for Youth Services.

We as a stand-alone club are not personally or immediately effected, BUT we watch as other Youth Club after local Youth Club close.

At one point we were 1 of only 3 youth clubs still running for both Poole and Bournemouth and access to support was basically lost. One Youth worker -Jane Milton who kindly gave us her number, just in case we had an emergency.

So, in November 2021, Stewart, Sue, Linda and myself went to Aim Community and did a Level 3 Safeguarding course out of our own pocket.

Myself was able to carry on the Level 3 First Aid training paid for by my full-time job, covering me for a further 3 years and this also helps out the Youth Club. We as a club felt very much alone…

In April 2022 I applied for a one-off Co-op grant and was successful. We received £150.00 to pay for to fix all the gaming consoles. With this money we were able to get the Wii and PlayStation back up and running with new rechargeable batteries and controllers and we were able to afford to replace like for like Xbox. the children were very happy with this improvement.

Since other clubs have gone, we have noticed an increase in the number of children over this time period. We have had 936 in total. We opened for 42 weeks. We averaged 22 children per week, 3 times we had 34 children, we had no issues, just crazy busy.

We had 24 children attend our Christmas party with free Disco and food, donated my volunteers.

We are a good group, but we do need support, we have asked parents of any are interested in helping, even if it is just once a month. We are looking positive for the future.
