Our Group has continued over the past year with further frustration
and disappointment but still in the hope of finding a permanent home
for our wonderful heritage lifeboat, The Edward Birkbeck.
Following several attempts to secure planning permission for a
permanent home for our boat around our local dune system, the
original home for our boat has all proved too difficult due to the special
protection status of the area.
We still hold out hope that a new local development, that is still in the
early stages of planning, can provide an area to accommodate our boat.
The landowner has confirmed, subject to a successful planning
application, that our requirement for a site is included.
Following any positive progress on this front, our dedicated small group
will set about the task of recruitment for the group, further fundraising
and a re-boot of activity to progress our mission to finish the
restoration task.
Our boat is currently stored on private land, with the generous consent
of the landowner, but with access restrictions. The boat and equipment
are wrapped, secure and weatherproof awaiting further progress on
planning. Our group remains positive about a successful future for our
project.
