The charity was created under a trust deed dated 28 August 2012 and is an unincorporated association. 

## Objectives and activities 

The trust seeks to aid the inhabitants of India who by reason of their social and economic conditions are in need of assistance by the provision of food, health care, housing, education, counselling and training for work and principally by supporting the work of the Mahalir Aran Trust, a body formed in accordance with and governed by the laws of India, based at Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu. 

The charity’s activities in this year as in earlier years are the remitting of funds raised in Europe and the USA to India to support the work of Mahalir Aran Trust in providing physical, emotional, spiritual, and practical support principally to women and children. 

In 2023 the charity raised and used funding to continue the work in the community including additional provision of medical services by the recruitment of a medical doctor. Work continued on the building project which began in 2022 and which will extend into 2024. 

The charity does not solicit funds from the general public. We are grateful for the continued contributions received from our supporters and from volunteers. 

The charity is registered with HMRC for the purposes of recovery of Gift Aid on individual donations 



## Public Beneft 

The trustees have kept in mind the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit in all their activities and are satisfied that all activities and expenditure fulfil the criteria. 

## Financial Review and Reserves 

In the year, the charity received income of £56,582 (2022 - £45,219). Grants totalling £76,900 (2022 £40,637) were paid to Mahalir Aran to support the projects in India. 

All income was unrestricted for use by the charity within its overall objectives. 

At the end of the year the charity was holding funds of £102,862 (2022 £123,180). 

In 2024 the Trust propose to continue to use the funds at its disposal to continue to support the work of Mahalir Arun Trust including enhancing the community and medical provisions and additional building work. 

The trustees declare that they have approved the report above.

Responsibilities and basls of report
As the charity Iruslees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in
accordance with the Chanlies Act 2011 ("Ihe Act'}.
Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the charity are not required to be audited and arè
eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of the Tnjsl's accounts
carried out under s145 of the Act and in ¢arrying out my examination. I have followed the applicable
Directions given by the Charity Commission under s145{51(bl of the Ad.
Independent examiner's ststement
I have compleled my examination. I confirm that no malerial matters have come lo my attention in
connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe Ihal in, any material respect..
accounting recofds were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act, or
the accounts do not accord with the accounting records.
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of
accounts sel out in the Chanlies IA¢counts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any
requirement that the accounts give a 'lrue and fair, view which is not a matter considered as part of
an independent examination.
I have no concems and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination lo
which attents.on should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be
reached.
