The year to which these accounts relate has been extremely challenging: International travel opened sporadically and at great expense; our partner colleges became extremely risk adverse and would not release students during term time and our operating costs rose exorbitantly; schools remained closed to our Art & Nature programme and fund-raising was all but impossible. We were able to partially deliver our Turing funded programme in Tenerife but were unable to affect placements further afield. Tenerife is our main operating base and as it is within the EU we were able to compensate for huge drop in UK volunteers with those from within the EU principally from Germany, France and Holland. 2. Because of the difficulty of international travel we were approached by several other volunteer organisations asking us to take some of their volunteers. We came to arrangements with GVI, RGV, and Mighty Roar. These arrangements helped us to stabilise our cash flow and support our overheads but damaged our group dynamic badly. We are still repairing the damage done. 3. We were further able to develop our tree planting programme supporting a cooperative of women farmers in Sri Lanka (we further supported them by helping facilitate import of herbs and spices they grow and funding materials for an elephant enclosure to protect them from wild elephants; replanting mangrove swamps in Nigeria, supporting tree planting with the Hill Tribes in Vietnam and communities in Tanzania; we also gave out 10,000 tree saplings to schools in the UK. 4. We were further able to support communities globally through funding production of arts and craft work to provide income for extremely impoverished village communities. 5. We developed planning for new initiatives including the Anu Art fund through which international artists donate works of art with 30% of proceeds going into a special fund to support creativity in disadvantaged women and children and to include a micro financing support where possible to facilitate income generation. Also developing a Global Village concept through which we can support village communities through their craft production- particularly strong in Sri Lanka, India and Vietnam. 6. Another notable issue in the period was a ridiculously high turnover of staff which caused logistical issues throughout he period and involved continous and time consuming retraining. Extremely frustrating. ## **NOTES:** 1. Income: Volunteer income 61,592 Direct through website (mainly from within the EU)- £16,250 (euro converted)+ £8780; RGV A large German organisation we formed a collaboration with- £28,442; GVI A large global volunteer organisation we formed a collaboration with- £ 8,120 AWdF to support volunteer operations 17,000 TFET Ditto 15, 619 Just Giving Fund raising all but impossible 632 Bounceback 901 Kick Start We adopted the scheme to take on three young people, with varying degrees of success 4,705 Misc 193 Income -£5106 internal transfer €- £. Deducted from gross income 2. Adminisration £5973 admin costs £2164 misc £847 kick start. Nominal as most work had to done at home. 3. Volunteer Costs Chanelled through Ed Bentham (Trustee based in Tenerife) , Just under £12,000 direct in Tenerife- flights etc; balance through True Fair not for profits operating the volunteer programme. £59,351 focussed entirely with volunteer programmes in Tenerife. UK placements had to be outside term time which focussed them on the expensive summer months. This greatly increased the cost of delivery of these programmes. Expenditure was focussed through trustee Ed Bentham who was resident in Tenerife throughout, direct to Tenerife and through True Fair Eco Tourism- flights, insurances etc. 4. Art & Nature Schools were closed even for the delivery of (FREE) terracotta projects and sapling trees 5. Enterprise Development £31, 512 Whilst unable to send volunteers outside of Europe we were able to support the communities we work in particularly in Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nigeria and Tanzania with resources to produce local craft goods and art work.
