Together their passion, vision and energy are doubled on their journey facilitating Young People, families and communities. ## A message from the Founders “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12 We have always believed Young People should have alternatives to education because education is not a one hat fits all. Through ELKOLET we have been able to achieve this belief and serve students from Schools across Hampshire, England. ELKOLET’S “The King’s Way ( TKW )” is the “Alternative Education Provision” giving students other hats and pegs to hang their education, life skills and social awareness on. Since 2012 Paula & I, ELKOLET, ELKOLET Benevolent Foundation and ELKOLET Humanitarian Developers Limited have focused on the reactive Secondary School year groups Years 7 to Years 11 students via Schools’ referral only, family support and local community initiatives. TKW provide core subjects: Maths, English Lang and Lit, Biology and Geography. GCSE students do not need to return to their registered School to sit their exams. TKW provides exam conditions which takes away the tremendous anxiety surrounding exams and returning to their School. This carried over from the Covid pandemic dilemma that we all had to endure. This year’s challengers were staff losses, coping with reducing aged payables, Ofsted inspection and changes in Trustees to name a few. Even though those challengers ELKOLET can writing this report to share accomplishments for the close of 2021/2022. ELKOLET has spent the last nine years at the reactive end for young people, parents, Schools and agencies. After the Covid pandemic ELKOLET has seen the need for more preventative measures. The start of the 2022/2023 academic year, students’ years 7 and 8 are needing alternative provision intervention in line with years 10 and 11. For 2022 ELKOLET has had a double uptake with its “Youth Today Food Kits” initiative. We have seen dramatic changes in the Alternative Provision, Work Experience and Family Support. An increase in the cohort sizes having to increase teaching and mentor staff. The introduction of the culinary and hair and beauty have been a benefit for a lot of students. This helped students to appreciate and understand the need for their core subjects… not just enjoying free meals and haircuts. There are more young people struggling with their academia due to many circumstances surrounding social issues and not always education struggles at all. For ELKOLET, there is still a light at the end of each young person and their family’s tunnel if they continue to engage with ELKOLET and its initiatives. ELKOLET’S September 2021 – 2022 Annual Report _Section C_ cont’d ## **Purpose & Objective** ELKOLET and ELKOLET Benevolent Foundation are to advance the education and personal development of the public in particular young people, whom have been or on the edge of being disengaged from mainstream schools; provide safe and conducive centres for young people who, due to personal circumstances, find it difficult to cope in mainstream education; provide and facilitate family support initiatives for parents and guardians needing family support during the young person’s educational journey during difficult circumstances. ELKOLET’S September 2021 – 2022 Annual Report _Section C_ cont’d **Main Activities** ## **Alternative Educational Provision** ## **(“The King’s Way” “TKW”)** TKW provide to Schools for Year 7 to Year 11 Learners during difficult circumstances respite breaks, preventative, and reactive interventions. During anyone of these interventions the Learner continues with their education alongside qualified and experienced staff who deliver English Language & Literature, Maths, Biology and either Art or Geography approved subjects. The staff provides support for transiting over into College and will continue this support for past Learners who have engaged with College who find that journey difficult and facilitate those Learners that have not engaged with College at all. TKW always come alongside all agencies connected with the Young Person and their family during their difficult circumstances. Another pleasing accomplishment is reintegration for the Young Person back into mainstream School. ELKOLET’S September 2021 – 2022 Annual Report cont’d **Main Activities** ## _Section C_ ## **Family Support Services** EMBRACE ( E motional- M otivating- B olstering- R especting- A ssisting- C ultivating- E ncouraging) is an integral part of TKW during the young person’s and family’s educational journey and sometimes, beyond. The EMBRACE staff provides family support not only to TKW Learners and families, also, Primary and Secondary Schools within the Alton, Hampshire cluster of Schools. Within the Alton cluster EMBRACE had on its register over one hundred and ten (110) families needing support. With this year’s challengers and staff losses the afterschool and evening parenting classes ran at The ELKOLET Centre begin again within the first quarter of 2023. ELKOLET has been able to continue operating successful relationships with all agencies affiliated with the Learners and their family. Ensuring, continued home visits were carried out when needed. More than 75% of the EMBRACE cost is funded internally by ELKOLET and its commercial subsidiaries. ELKOLET’S September 2021 – 2022 Annual Report _Section C_ cont’d **Main Activities** ## **Bolt-On (Work Experience and Apprenticeship)** ELKOLET work closely with its partnering commercial companies to facilitate the public knowing that the Young People connected with “The ELKOLET Group of Entities” receives the highest standards when it comes to their needed life and job placement employability skills. “ Vision Hair & Beauty ”, “ Bahama Bay ” and “ The Bike Workshop ” provides bespoke, conducive work experience and apprenticeship learning environments for the Learners, students from all the Schools ELKOLET work with, during their educational journey with TKW or College. Further, ELKOLET enjoys through ELKOLET Humanitarian Developers’ relationship exclusive benefits of all profits after deductions of all operating expenses and cost of goods. The ELKOLET Group have continued its relationship with Basingstoke and Farnborough Colleges to ensure availability for TKW’s Leavers in transitioning onto further studies ## **Youth Today Food Kits** ELKOLET partners with its affiliate ELKOLET Benevolent Foundation (“EBF”) which work with two (2) partnering commercial companies to continue with its “Youth Today Food Kits” initiative distribution of Food Kits to families during the schools’ term breaks. Starting in 2020 and up to September 2022 there have been 70,000 meals distributed from ELKOLET’S centre on Mill Lane, Alton to families connected and not connected to ELKOLET families. Each Food Kit has sufficient supplies for seven (7) breakfasts and seven (7) lunches. Christmas 2022 families will see distribution of a special “ELKOLET Christmas Dinner Food Kit” which serves a family of six (6). It hosts its successful Alternative Provision and Family Support Team, hosting support groups and workshops on site. - **Performance** - The site continues to provide the necessary facilities and space required to meet a growing and often varied number of needs. ELKOLET has allowed agencies it works alongside to facilitate related families access to meeting rooms within the Centre at no cost to encourage good and mutual working relationships. ## **TKW ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION PROVISION** - **Achievements** - February marked ELKOLET Group of Entities’ its eleventh (11[th] ) year in operation. The Centre has given six (6) Learners an opportunity to sit their GCSE exams without having to return to their registered school to sit their GCSE exams. - **Performance** - Provided bespoke education and SEMH support to twenty (20) Learners from thirteen (13) different secondary Schools throughout East Hampshire. ELKOLET’S September 2021 – 2022 Annual Report _Section D_ cont’d ## **Family Support Services** - **Achievements** - Supported one hundred and ten (110) families throughout the Alton Cluster and increased the Family Support team. - **Performance** - The Family Support Team successfully meet the needs of thirty-two (32) cases enabling the families to move forward without further support. ELKOLET Group of Entities successfully networked with several local charities and agencies in order to meet the needs of Young People and Families. ## **Bolt On (Work Experience and Apprenticeship)** - **Achievements** - Work experience students of all year groups had improved communication, time management and problem-solving skills. This was evident through their increased confidence in the learning environment, their articulation in conversation with peers and adults and through their stickability when faced with exam questions. - **Performance** - There have been six (6) work experience Learners and two (2) Apprentices benefiting from the Bolt-On initiative. ## **Youth Today Food Kits** - **Achievements** - Delivered over two thousand (2,000) Food Kits within the year. - **Performance** - Steady team of between ten (10) to fifteen (15) community volunteers. Partnering with one local School who brings between forty (40) to sixty (60) student volunteers and two (2) corporate partners.
