## **Achievements and Performance**

> SORP reference The start of the financial year 202122 began still being seriously affected by the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic. Venues and live music were still under strict guidelines or complete lockdown, with no certainty or security to allow for in-person activity. Instead F4Wt concentrated its programme on delivery that had certainty and harnessed to growing popularity and ease for online accessibility, despite a digital fatigue that began to spread after so many months in lockdown.

Our creative mentoring continued

with the Pay It 4ward masterclasses that ran every few weeks until the summer, encompassing a range of subject matter within the music industry and connecting aspiring musicians, sound designers and producers with industry professionals. The digital nature of the delivery served to increase participation outside of the Rushmoor area and encouraged ongoing participation in charity activities and future volunteering. In April 2021 F4Wt proudly accepted a donation by the charitable arm of NovaCyt, a firm that had earned record profits developing covid tests and was paying this back to the community. Mikey Riley, a previous mentee of F4Wt was working for NovaCyt during the pandemic and made the nomination. The donation was significant and would allow financial recovery and investment in charitable activity once restrictions would allow. F4Wt began a collaboration with Waveform Ravedorm, and online peer platform created by staff and students on the music courses at University of the Creative Arts during the pandemic. The collaborative online event saw participation from experienced musicians both within the UK and Berlin, whilst engaging a new audience of academic students and those that had attended the Pay It 4ward masterclasses. F4Wt and Waveform are continuing to plan and develop a relationship to support peer guidance and collaboration on digital platforms for the future. During this time F4Wt started work planning a structure and business model for such a peer network in a physical platform; the creation of an arts focused creative space of visual art, craft practitioners alongside F4Wt project spaces, performance and recording spaces and art-based corporate partners. This ‘hub’ remains in planning due to resources and key stakeholders aligning for the suitable property and leadership team.

Independent Venues Week offered

funding for a standalone Sound Check Session, which F4Wt was pleased to host at Aldershot’s West End Centre. This online session featured local bands and focussed on stage craft, technical set up and sound engineering. It was felt at evaluation that future sessions need to be inperson events to encourage participation and understanding. As covid restrictions began to lift throughout the summer of 2021, F4Wt remained on digital platforms to ensure the delivery of planned mentoring, advice sessions and online music-focused peer meets such as Waveform and Who Covers Wins, a group of Mega City Four fans and supporters of F4Wt who share common love of MC4 songs. A t’shirt range of new designs celebrating live music was launched in early autumn as music venues started to reopen. These proved popular and were a valuable income source. A live programme launched as soon as restrictions allowed, with ModCaf restarting in October 2021 at Aldershot’s West End Centre and later Jasta11 Promotions co-promoted a show at Alton’s Lounge Bar in December 2021 showcasing some of F4Wt’s more recent artists. The turnout of customers was much larger than anticipated and welcomed despite ongoing nervousness and uncertainty after the pandemic. F4Wt used this time to begin planning a ground breaking and innovative project involving impulse responses to build an audio catalogue of acoustic maps. Planned for 2022-23, the foundations were laid quickly and stakeholders involved early on for this forthcoming exciting project. An Arts Council National Lottery Project funding application took several months to put together and was submitted shortly before the end of the financial year.

F4Wt’s last outreach activity for 202122 was the annual Industry day at Aldershot’s West End Centre during
