## KINGFISHER CAFE

## **Trustees Report 2021- 2022**

Now the pandemic is over we are so pleased to re-open as a cafe to our clients and the wider community. Some of our clients still prefer to use our take out facility especially on a Sunday when we ensure that they have food to cover them for the week ahead. The re-opening of the cafe has reawakened the social aspects of our work as our clients can sit together in a warm, homely environment helping to combat isolation and loneliness.

Behind the scenes the fundraising work continues and we have been able to access quite a few grants which have helped towards our costs and increases our stability.

We are still seeing a continuing need from families who have been affected by the pandemic. We continue to supply food and clothing whilst their benefit applications are being processed. We continue to support many clients who have been with us over a period of years, who find the cafe an important part of their regular activities and sense of security. The non-judgemental welcome that they receive ensures they feel able to continue to be with us for as long as they need us.

We are continually grateful for the local support coming to us in the form of food, clothing, sleeping bags and financial donations.

The appointing of our paid kitchen manager is proving to be very successful bringing stability to our cafe operations. She ensures that we comply with all the appropriate food and hygiene standards.

Our new Treasurer sadly had to move away from the area to be closer to her family so we welcomed our current Treasurer who is very well qualified to meet our needs.

Our new Trustees have been very supportive in our work this year which has included an assessment of our ventilation system in the kitchen. We hope that the installation work will take place in May 2022.

We continually appreciate the constancy and devotion shown to us by our volunteers, which enables us to provide a stable, secure and homely environment for our clients who show their appreciation for all they receive.

We are looking forward to continuing in this new year our unique services for our clients and our community.
