Trustees report Healing Hooves Devon 1172922 2024/2025
The Caravan , Steart Farm Stud , Stoodleigh , Tiverton EX16 9QA
trustees: Rosie Thornton and Lucy Culverhouse
We have managed to open a new charity shop locally which will hopefully bring in more vital funds for our charity and provide a part-time job for a local person and a recycling facility for local residents.
in this period we have rescued 6 ponies and rehomed 3 , some of the ponies we help are very old and on daily medication and cannot be rehomed. They are able to spend their remaining days quietly with friends of similar ages. at our base there have been 273 equine assisted learning sessions with young adults , which has benefited those greatly. Our sessions consist of gentle handling on the ground , grooming and learning how to care for ponies and empathy for the ponies feelings.
The charity managed to buy a muck trailer as our muck heap is nearly half a mile away on our rented property , we have tidied up the land 50 acres, mended fencing , harrowed and weeded which takes many weeks to remove to make safe for the rescue ponies.
Some of our equine residents are retirement livery horses from inner cities , these horses come to us as rehabilitation retirement horses , we have been very successful helping these horses along side our vet.
Our charity has no debts and we always pay our rent on time.
