Summary
ofthe
achievements
of
during
the year
main
the
charity During
this period the charity continued
with
its current
main objective:-
to distribute
a free copy of the
Sadsville
children's
book to primary
school children
in the UK.
Following a significant
donation
of F50,000 in July 2020, it was able
to
distribute
copies of the book to EVERY primary
school and Public
Library
in England. The printing
and distribution
of the book took place
during
Q3 of 2020 which was timed to coincide with schools returning
face to face teaching
following
Lockdown ยน1and International
to
Children's
Mental
Health week. As widely reported,
the emotional,
mental
and psychological
effects on children as a result of the
pandemic
and the national
lockdowns
has led to greater prevalence
of
anxiety and behavioural
difficulties
amongst
children so the Martin
Roberts Foundation
was proud to offer its support at this time.
The book itself was modified
to provide Teaching Resources
within
the
back pages of the book to help with the delivery
of the key messages
from Sadsville. These has previously
been available as online
downloads,
but by incorporating
them into the book itself served to
make them more readily available
to teaching
staff.
This wide scale distribution
was accompanied
by significant
press
coverage
in national
media to order to explain to schools, teaching
staff,
parents
and support
workers when the book would be available.
