Publtc Benefit Statement The main activities of Newsham Matters are described below and are undertaken to further our charitable purposes for the public benefit. In planning these activities, the trustees have given due regard to the Charity Commission's public benefit guidance. Strutture overnance and mana ment The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organi5ation, registered tharity number is 1172885. The charity's governing document is its Foundation Constitution which was approved by the Trustees and last amended 21sr March 2017. The charity has no paid staff and trustees are volunteers. The Trustees are elected by the existing group of trustees. None of the trustees has received payment or reimbursement of expenses for their work as trustees. Recruitment and A ointment of Trustees Trustees are elected and co-opted in accordance with the terms set out in the constitution. The trustees have overall control and responsibility for decision making. Trustees seek to ensure that the users, needs are refiected through the diversity of the Board. They are encouraged to attend training and involved in decision making prOsseS and future plans.
Finan3[ Our financial position is satisfartory. Our income was mostly through our weekly lunch club. This provide5 stability to our income. Our operating costs are low due time given free from volunteers who deliver our activities. Our main costs are payments for lunch club, trips and craft club expenditure. Risk Mana ment We have assessed the major risks in particular those related to our operations and finan5. No major risks have been identified. The level of free reserves held by the charity are sufficient to sustain our artivities and provide financial flexibility for future challenges. Athievements Newsham Matters has 6 trustees who manage the day to day running of the organisation. Our volunteers help plan our sessions and enable u5 to deliver our well attended groups and activities. Volunteers have accessed food hygiene training enabling us to deliver safe and effective sessions Our lunch club is popularwith local residents, and we have continued to provide affordable meals every week from the local communty ntre. This year we have delivered 40 lunch club sessions supplying over 480 meals to local people. Our weekly craft group is attended by over 14 local people of all ages each week We provide various craft opportunities enabling people to learn new skills and socialise with others in a relaxed, friendly envlronment. We provided family activities during school holidays where families attended along with their children. Over 180 local residents attended the annual summer trip to Northumberland Zoo. We have set up a WhatsApp group enabling us to improve booking procedures and provide timely information and detai15 about planned trips. We have also setour Newsham Matters facebook page to inform people about our acttvities. The group now offer the venue as a Warnizone with free tea and coffee provided. We continue to welcome communty groups and OTganisations to the group providing demonstrations and local infomiation for our member5 including Blyih Battery, NHS workers, Northumberland Communities Together. We continueto deliver our sessions from the P3villion Community Centre. The venue is situated in the local park giving our members the opportunity to access the activities or relax and enjoy the outdoors when attending the group.
