ANNUAL REPORT 2023/2024

This Annual Report covers the period 1/9/23 to 31/8/24. It was approved by the members at the Annual General Meeting held on 21st November 2024.

1. INTRODUCTION

Our constitution sets out the objectives to advance the education of pupils by: developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with Dallington School; and engaging in activities or providing facilities/equipment to support the school and advance the education of the pupils.

Administration

FoD was registered as a charity on 5/4/17. The financial year runs from 1st September to 31st August. This report covers the period from 1/9/23 to 31/8/24. FoD will be run according to official charity guidelines, with annual reports and accounts submitted to and held on file by the Charity Commission. FoD benefits from the support and services offered by the Charity Commission.

Personnel

Committee members were Lucy Clark (Co-Chair), Amy Blier-Carruthers (Co-Chair), Daniela Seifermann (Treasurer), Marenka Gabeler (Secretary), Alex Hesse (Secretary), Sam Ward (Secretary). Susana Marin will be stepping down at this AGM (In absentia) because her children have left the school.

2. FINANCIAL SUMMARY

For the year 1/9/23 to 31/8/24, total net income was £5941.38 and total net expenditure was £6002.15 versus £3964.96 and £4032 the previous year. Reserves were £8744.59 at 31/8/24, marginally down from £8805.36 at 1/9/23.

3. COMMUNITY EVENTS

Registered Charity Number 1172877 Friends of Dallington Annual Report 2023/2024

All usual events took place throughout the year: Twice termly bake sale Welcome back playground party Termly French Cafe Dallington Auction Christmas movie screening Christmas party Tote bag sales Summer playground party

4. FUNDRAISING

Fundraising events continued, albeit on a smaller scale due to the size of the school. We have still not reintroduced a fete, but the twice-termly bake sales seem to break records term on term! The children designed a tote bag, with pictures of them and the staff depicting what they wanted to be when they grew up, with the tag ‘We Dream Big’. Parents were able to make a donation to FoD in exchange for a tote bag. We ordered a large number after the success of the tea towels, and because the bags were cheaper the bigger the print run. But the tote bags weren’t as popular and we still have around 90 left. There is a discussion happening to donate these surplus bags to the school for their marketing purposes. FoD also held its 2nd auction, which raised nearly £2000. We received donations from members of the school community, these included photographs, drawings, paintings and jewellery. Reserves were sufficient to fund community events for the 2023/24 academic year, and remain sufficient to fund similar events for the 2024/25 year.

OTHER FUNDRAISING

Gift Aid will be added to accounts. We need to send out another round of Gift Aid approval letters to ensure all parents have given consent for us to claim gift aid on their behalf.

5. DONATIONS

Where possible, FoD donates some of its fundraising proceeds each year to Dallington School. For the period 1/9/202 - 31/8/2024 Friends of Dallington donated £3543.92 compared to £2477 1/9/2022 - 31/8/2023.
