## **MEN’S MATTERS TRUSTEES 2023 ANNUAL REPORT** 

## **Men’s Matters Windsor Group Report – 2023 By Tim Walker, Trustee and Group Leader** 

- 06/01 Malcolm attended the first of a community groups forum at Tesco, Dedworth. 

- 09/01 Group meetings resumed in the cafeteria at All Saints Church. The group agreed that this space was cosier than the large space at the back of the church. 

- 16/01 With the addition of new member, Bob Cooper, there were 16 at this meeting. General knowledge quiz questions followed announcements during the first hour. 

- 20/01 Tim attended a community forum networking meeting at Tesco Dedworth and lined up some speakers to visit our group. Hosted by Jon Davey, Community Champion. 

- 23/01 Guest speaker – Laura from Dedworth Library – launching a Friday afternoon meet up for older men. 16 attended. 

- 25/01 Four of our group started a six-week slow cooker course, organised by ABRI Housing Association, at Sawyers Close common room. They received a free slow cooker.

- 20/02 11.30 meeting at Tesco Dedworth with Jon Davey – defibrillator fundraiser ideas 2.00-4 group meeting 

- 24/02 Tim attended a Windsor Community Forum meeting at the Windsor Family Hub 

- 27/02 Group meeting – Tim had covid! Malcolm took charge. 

- 03/03 St George’s Chapel tour (Windsor Castle) day trip – Malcolm led, 12 attended. 06/03 Group meeting 

- 17/03 Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire certificate presentation, Tim attended with Paul and Chris, at South Hill Park, Bracknell. Certificate awarded. 

- 13/03 Group meeting 

- 14/03 Tim displayed for MM at Age Concern Open Day, Spencer Denny Centre, Dedworth 

- 20/03 Group meeting, Malcolm led as Tim away visiting parents in Spain. Steve Samson, Healthwatch Survey 

- 27/03 Group meeting – Malcolm led as Tim away 

- 03/04 Group Meeting Tim led, guest speaker: Ollie Cassells, RBWM voter registration info 07/04 Tim met with Jon Davey at Tesco Dedworth, defibrillator fundraiser planning and letter requesting sponsorship for Coronation Lunch set for Monday 8[th] May. 

- 11/04 Tim and Malcolm attended Red Cross First Aid Training, Copthorne Hotel, Slough 

- 17/04 Group meeting, guest speaker – Clive Dent, RBWM Community Warden, scam and fraud awareness. 

- 20/04 Board of Trustees Meeting 

- 01/05 Bank holiday – no meeting 

- 08/05 12.00 – Tim met John Davey at Tesco Dedworth to collect food, drink, party items for our Coronation of King Charles Lunch from 1.30 – 3.30pm. Table quiz with prizes of union jack pens. (30 attended)

- 12/06 Meeting – quiz, briefing about proposed Age Concern meeting and lunch (17) 

- 19/06 Meeting – quiz, prep for excursion next day (16) 

- 20/06 Excursion – Museum of English Rural Life, Reading 

- 23/06 Friday – Tim attended Windsor Community Forum meeting hosted by John Davey

- 14/08 No meeting – church booked all week for half term events 

- 16/08 Wednesday – met Malcolm and two men for cream tea at the church 2.30pm 

- 21/08 Meeting – quiz (12) 

- 28/08 Bank holiday – no meeting 

- 04/09 Meeting – quiz (15) agreed to enter a swimathon team – Tim, Bruce, Mark, Reg 11/09 Meeting – quiz (15) 

- 14/09 Board of Trustees Meeting, Maidenhead Community Centre 02/10 Fish and Chips lunch for 16 

- 16/10 Windsor Lions Club – Mike Sells gave a talk on their fundraising activities that include community defibrillators and the annual swimathon 

- 23/10 Windsor West 2 new PCSO’s, Heyrick and Lisa, introduced themselves and gave a talk on crime awareness, scams and safety 

- 29/10 Sunday Swimathon at St Georges School, Ascot – Men’s Matters team of Tim, Reg, Mark and Alan Robinson took part. £250 raised 

- 20/11 Menu choices made for the Christmas Lunch, paid deposit to Prince Albert Pub 

- 24/11 Tim and Paul manned a table at Maidenhead Library Men’s Event 

- 26/11 Dedworth Community Christmas Fair – stall manned by Tim, Bruce, Malcolm. Guess the weight of cake and jelly beans in jar (finally got rid of it!) – cash donations 

- 08/12 Christmas Lunch at Prince Albert Pub, Clewer Hill Rd, attended by 20 

- 15/12 Table in foyer of Tesco Dedworth stores – awareness and cash donations 

- 18/12 Deposited cash donated during December - £44.90 Last meeting of the year (15)
