**Safety matters on and off the water.**
**Funding raised is used for Maintenance**
**and Storage of the Dragon Boats, any kit**
**which is purchased for the team,**
**payment of registration fees for Dragon**
**Boat Racing events both nationally and**
**internationally. Organising fundraising**
**events and also giving talks - not only to**
**raise funds but also awareness of our**
**Charity’s aims. We use display boards**
**to raise our profile in various locations.**
**Our Charity supports any of our**
**members who become unable to paddle**
**by offering a non-paddling membership**
**in order that they continue to enjoy the**
**friendship and support.**

**allow all our members, if required, to be**

**for its success. The Board of Trustees**
**is entirely made up of volunteers who**
**are also members and have experience**
**of Breast Cancer. Our female helms are**
**also from our membership and**
**volunteers whom we have financed in**
**training. Our male helmsman is a non-**
**cancer volunteer who is also now a**
**Coach/Trainer. We benefit from**
**countless hours of help from our**
**families, friends and local businesses**
**who continually support and strengthen**

**where we store our boats and the Adult**
**Sailors Club who supply us with a**

**flew to Geneva to take part in dragon**
**boating on ice. This was a very effective**
**team building exercise.**
**In May over 20 paddlers travelled to**
**Barcelona to take part in the 4th festival**
**which included a significant number of**
**dragon boat teams. Whilst not**
**particularly successful at these**
**championships, this event created a**
**renewed focus on training to improve**
**our paddling technique and increase the**
**members’ stamina.**
**In October we travelled to Rome to take**
**part in the Pink Butterfly’s festival. This**
**turned out to be a very successful event**
**and demonstrated what regular training**
**can achieve. It was also a great team**
**bonding exercise.**
**The above events benefit our members**
**through improved physical fitness and**
**endurance, wellbeing and support for**
**each other as Breast Cancer survivors.**
**We have not been very active in terms of**
**fund raising over the past year due to**
**limited access to facilities at our base at**
**Hengistbury Head and an increased**
**focus on improving the standard of our**
**paddling through training.**
**We have established a Donations page**
**and increased our profile by setting up**
**an Instagram page and regularly**
**updating our Facebook profile.**
**We have used these fundraising events**
**as an opportunity to raise awareness of**
**breast cancer and the side effects of**
**treatment such as Lymphoedema.**
**Dragon boating helps to reduce the**
**impact of these side effects on our**

**members have become lifetime**
**members of the new society. We**
**anticipate that we will have to contribute**
**to the capital costs of the**
**redevelopment in return for reduced**
**future rental payments. Such a capital**
**contribution will come from reserves.**
**Funds of approximately £400 per**
**member are required to enter the next**
**IBPCC event which is to take place in**
**France in 2026.**

**need to maintain ample reserves as we**
**have not been able to hold our Annual**
**Festival, which was our key fund raiser,**
**due to a lack of facilities since the**
