Stone Cross Mill Trust Annual Report March 2024 Charity Registration No 1172798
Last year the Trust decided to only open the first Sunday of each month from April to the end of September. This proved to be very successful and raised a record sum of money from sales and donations. The number of visitors increased especially families and their children coming to the Windmill every month throughout the season to enjoy the home-made cakes, scones and bread.
Members of Stone Cross Windmill were extremely generous in donations and gifts for the tombola and their continued support throughout the year.
The Trust would like to thank Shepham Community Fund for their support that help maintain the Windmill especially the current a grant that will be used to repair the fan stage & cap enabling milling using using quality grain from a local farm. The sale of wholemeal flour has proved to be very successful with local residents who enjoy baking bread and cakes for their family and friends.
The Trust owe tremendous thanks Esther and Elaine for their constant supply of scones, cakes and bread for sale and the volunteers that conduct tours of the Windmill.
The planned Harvest Festival celebration at the Windmill and a Carol Service at St Lukes Church did not occur as Father James moved to a new area and St Lukes Church are awaiting to appoint a new priest.
Finally, the Trust owe a debt of gratitude to the volunteer maintenance team who meet every week to continue the never-ending work required to keep the Windmill in pristine condition as a reminder of the areas agricultural tradition and heritage.
