Stone Cross Mill Trust Chairs Report March 2022
=
Last year proved to be very challenging as fairs and other fund raising activities were severely curtailed. But thanks to the generosity of the visitors and members donations were greatly appreciated.
The Trust held a Harvest Festival celebration at the Windmill and also a carol service at St Lukes Church with thanks to Father James Vine who conducted both celebrations with joy and support.
Don’t forget to renew Windmill membership and 100 club
Many thanks for your continued support. If you wish to pay membership, 100 club or provide a donation by direct transfer please contact the chair for details on 07909987843 or email scmt2012@yahoo.co.uk
Many thanks for your continual support. This year the Trust will be holding all the fund raising fairs at the Windmill in the hope of saving money

Stone Cross Windmill closed in September for the Winter break. This gave time for the maintenance team to complete essential repairs ready for the opening and hopefully begin milling flour. The Windmill like all heritage buildings needs constant attention and sometimes at high costs as there is often a need to hire professional help and guidance.
The season last year was very short and sadly a number of fund-raising events were cancelled. Thank goodness for covid 19 Government grants that helped towards the costs of maintaining the building and Shepham Community Funds that supported the repairs to the Fan Stage.
The Trust will re-open on Easter weekend Sunday 16 April for teas and tours
The Trust held its first fund raising fair since 2019 at the Windmill in November last year and hopefully this level of support will continue as the monies raised help the ever-continuing maintenance and essential expenses. The Trust hope to continue using the Windmill for fund raising events during 2022.
The next fundraising event will be a coffee and cake morning at the Windmill on Saturday 23 April from 10 to 12 and hopefully will attract many visitors. There will be a tombola and raffle prizes plus the usual stalls selling home-made cakes and bread.
Please continue to support the Windmill by renewing your membership, providing donations, and joining/renewing the 100 club so that it can remain open to the public. If you have recently moved to the area, especially the new estates that are adjacent to the Windmill, help to maintain this iconic building in the heart of our community - a reminder of our heritage.
