This delivers an Extended<br>Project Qualification (EPQ) in one year,<br>and is underpinned by the Art History A<br>Level teaching, delivered over the course of<br>two years, both from September 2019.<br>Encouragingly, we saw increased demand<br>year on year for places on our two courses<br>at The National Gallery and Wallace<br>Collection. We were oversubscribed with<br>students voluntarily choosing to attend<br>classes on term-time Saturdays to study for<br>additional qualifications. Significantly, at<br>least half of our students are from BAME<br>and/or Widening Participation backgrounds,<br>and often both.<br>AHLU offers students weekly online<br>homework clubs and individual EPQ and|

study support from AHLU’s Student Liaison<br>Officer plus individually assigned specialist<br>EPQ mentors from across the sector. We<br>also offer students support with university<br>applications, access to work experience,<br>information about careers in the arts, and<br>membership of our alumni organisation.<br>Until March 2020 our free Art History A<br>level and EPQ courses for state supported<br>students were delivered on term-time<br>Saturdays at the National Gallery and the<br>Wallace Collection in dedicated teaching<br>spaces generously donated by the galleries<br>When the galleries closed in March 2020,<br>as a result of the pandemic, our Art History<br>for Everyone A level and EPQ courses<br>pivoted online, and have continued virtually<br>ever since, on Zoom.<br>In the academic year from September<br>2020, we recruited 80 students. Over 40%<br>of this cohort of students are BAME, over<br>60% have Widening Participation<br>indicators, and over 30% are both BAME<br>and WP.<br>AHLU’s continued online delivery again<br>allowed us to recruit over half of our<br>students from outside Greater London.<br>55% of the current student cohort come<br>from across the UK, including Scotland,<br>Wales and Northern Ireland. We have<br>continued virtually ever since, on Zoom.<br>Our online classes are interactive and run<br>by expert teachers, with the support of a<br>team of specialist teaching assistants who<br>run break-out group discussion using<br>interactive Miro whiteboard technology, and<br>teaching resources issued via the Google<br>Classroom.|
