Dissenters Arts N16 was established by members of a local choir, Chorus of Dissent, and relies mainly on financial contributions from members of the choir, trustees and their contacts, collections at concerts, and fundraising social events.

Ruth Whitehead, who through Ruth Whitehead Associates is the principal sponsor of Chorus of Dissent, is also a trustee of Dissenters Arts N16.

The main activity of the Charity during the period was the facilitation of engagement in music and other artistic activities by primary school age children.

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

During the year, we continued our funding of music professionals visiting St Matthias C of E Primary School in order to consolidate on the success of the Evenings at Home project last year. This included provision for every form to have a singing period once a week, an optional school choir and music assemblies/ whole school performances.

We also made one-off grants to Sir Thomas Abney Primary School and to the East London Music to facilitate accessibility to instrumental music making by their students
