Normally the Charity funds and facilitates various artistic activities. In particular, we fund a professional animateur for a choir, Young Dissenters, aimed at primary school children as well as other choral projects involving local schools. We have also provided art materials and workshops for children reached through a project for refugees and migrants in Hackney. The Charity’s activities this year were curtailed due to the continued lockdown affecting schools and group activities and we were not able to run our usual activities. | Total funds raised in the period were £2,190, including £274 from Gift Aid. Funds were raised from donations, mainly by members of Chorus of Dissent and their friends and families, including donations of performance fees relating to a Chorus of Dissent concert totalling £240. Expenditure on projects was £5,000 for the St Matthias School outdoor creativity and arts project Administrative costs were £139, corresponding to bank fees and the CAFDonate platform including Gift Aid administration. As this was covered by trustees’ contributions during the year, all funds raised from other donors were used towards our projects. The charity had a cash balance of £2,424 on 31 Aug 2021, compared to £5,373 the year before. This reflects the trustees’ decision to spend funds on a project that we were able to identify in the knowledge that there may not be opportunities to restart normal activities for some time. |
