In planniro our projects for the year, we kept in mind the charity ommissions guidan￿ on public benefft at our trustee meetings. Furthemore. referen￿ was made to our agreed objectives to aid deosion making. The main projects were as follows.. Providing tutti'on wtlh furKling from The People's Postcode Lottery". Summary ofthe main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trusteos have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commisslon on public benefit) During this year. we worked in 5 primary schools. We taught a hTrgh number of pupils who came from disadvantaged backgrounds. many of whom had additional leaming needs such as Dyslexia and Autism_ In small groups of up to 4 pupils, they re￿iVed stru(*ured mutti-sensory tuttion, for 45 minLrtes a week. The interadive and fun ￿SSonS incorporated activities to help pupils improve their reading a￿Ur8¢Y and reading comprehension. During these lessons, pupils were explicitly tsught reading strategies they can use in the classroom and at home. Pupils developed confidence in their reading abilty and were able to take p￿aSUre in reading, vthich enhanced their well- being aThY seff-esteem. In February 2023, we delivered a webinar to tutors on 'Strategiès to engage reluctant vniters,. to raise funds for the charity. Section D Achievements and performance The charity managed to expand into 5 primary schools, which meant that there were sometimes as many as 16 groups of pupils re￿iving specialist tuttion. This required careful planning and preparation, to ensure the smooth running of the tuition and make sure the timings of the lessons worked alOngs￿de the curriculum and that any issues were dealt Summary ofthe main achievements of the charlty during the year The groups received fa￿ to face lessons, taught by specialist tutors, had a qualtfication in teaching children with dyslexia. We incorporated lots of interactive games and activities into the lessons, and pupils were able to leam the skills for reading in a fun way. We introduced graphic novels into the sessions, vthiGh worked on the pupils visual strengths, so pupils could gain more pleasure in reading. The pupils became independent readers and were able to transfer the strategies they leamt in the sessions to the classroom. As in previous years, y￿ had very positive feedback from class teachers, Deputy Headslsendco's and Headteachers, who nOti￿d that the pupils had significantly developed their Confiden￿ in reading and their mentsl well- being had improved. The Reading Ladders webinar was very successful and we raised nearly £700 which will be put towards expanding our reserves.
