the period ended 31st December 2023.
The trustees have adopted the provlslons of Accountlng and Reportlng by Charlties: Statement of
Recommended Practice appllcable to charltles preparlng thelr accounts In accordance with the
Financial Reporting Standard appllcable In the UK and Republlc of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective l January
2015).
The trustees have considered the Charity Commission's guidance on publlc beneflt, Including the
guidance 'public benefit: runnlng a charlty (PB2)'.
The Tnistees present their report and the financial statements for the period ended 31st December
2022. The Trustees who served durlng the period and up to the date of this report are set out on page

Governlng Document
Al Misbaah Academy (AMA) is constituted as a charitable trust registered with the Charity Commission
in April 2017 under charity number 1172726. It is governed by a Charitable Incorporated Organisatlon
last amended in June 2017.
Organlsatlonal Strurture
The charfty trustees are responslble for the general control and management of the charity. The
trustees meet together as a body monthly and are responsible for the overall governance of Al
Misbaah Academy and to oversee the management and day to day running of the charity. To organise
the governance of the charity, the trustees are In the process of settlng up a number of sub-
commlttees to delegate key areas of responslbility. Thls will Include the following:

Recruiknent and Appolntm•nt of Trust••s
The existln8 trustees are responslble for the recrultment of new trustees. In selectlng new trustees,
we seek to identlfy people who are commltted Indlvlduals, whose vlewg are allgned to the charl￿$
vision, in addition to bein8 able to offer relevant skllls and experlence. Potentlal trustees are invlted
to attend trustees, meetlngs to meet the trustees and have an Informal Intervlew and are glven more
details about the charltys alms and actlvltles, and, If all agree, they are then proposedas new trustees
at the subsequent trustees, meeting. This process allows due conslderatlon of the person's eligibility,
personal competence. specialist knowledge and skllls.
Induction and Train1￿ of New T￿￿tee5
Fol!owift8 appointment, new trustees are Introduced to thelr new role and given copies of the
goverriing documenl a copy of the most recent, The Essential Trustee, guldance booklet, and a guide
to the policies and procedures adopted by our charity. A number of publications from the Charity
Commission are also provided includlng the guidance on charlties and public benefit and on the
advan￿rnent of religion for the public benefit. This ensures that new Trustees are aware of the scope
of their responsibilities under the Charities Art. Initially, new trustees work with an existing trustee
assisting on particular activities and projects run by the charity. After satisfactory feedback from
existing trustees, they are given the task of leading a particular activity or project, reporting progress
at trustees, meetings.
Rtsk Management
The trustees have assessed the rlsks the charlty faces and have drawn up a rlsk matrix which identifies
the major rlsks by area of activlty, the nature of those risks, the likelihood of the rlsks happenin& and
the measures taken to manage them. The trustees revlew the risk matrix regularly at their meetings.
The trustees are satlsfied that systems are in place, or arrangements are in hand, to manage the rlsks
that have been Identifled. In particular, insurance cover is in place and the flnances of Al Misbaah
Academy (AMA) are kept under revlew. Appropriate Crimlnal Records Bureau (CRB/DBS) checks,
supported by regularly revlewed pollcies, are made for all those who work with children or other
vulnerable groups wfthln the premlses.

OBJEcllvES AND AcnviTIES
Our Alms
The objectlves of the charlty are set out In the Charltvs governlng document and are summarfised as
follows:
To advance educatlon for the beneflt of the poor, underprlvileged and the general public, by
means of, but not exduslvely, the provision or the asslstance In the provision of educational activities
and facllities for those in the UK.
To advance the religlon of Islam, by the means of, but not exclusively, promoting the corrert
understsnding of the beliets and practices and provision or assistance in the provision of facilitles for
worship and Islamic education for the benefit of the community in the UK, in accordance with the
teachings of the Qurfan and Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as interpreted by the Ahlus-
Sunnah-wal-jama'ah school of thought.
To relieve financial hardship, distress and suffering among poor people, virtims of natural and
man-made disasters and other people in need, by means of, but not exclusively, fundraising donations
for providing- or paying for food, items, equipment, clothin& accommodation and such services and
farilitses for the benefit of the said persons.
To provide or assist in the provlsion of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation
or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their
youth, age infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstsnces with the object of
improving their conditions of life.

Our objectlves are set to reflect our falth and communlty 81m$. Each year our trustees will revlew our
objectlves and artlvltles to ensure they contlnue to reflect our alms. In carrylng out this review, the
trustees have consldered the Charlty Commlsslon's general guldance on publlc benefit and in
partlcular Its supplementary publlc guldance on the advancement of religlon for the publlc benefft.
Artlvltles and Achlevements
The charity carrles out a wlde range of activitlés In pursuance of Its charltable aims. The trustees
conslder that these activities, summarlsed below, provlde beneflt both to our students who study at
Al Mlsbaah Academy and the wider communlty of Redbrldge, London:
Chlldren's Supplementary Schools: Al Mlsbaah Academy operates Supplementsry Schools on both
the weekdays and weekends, currently catering for approxlmately 700 students.
Qurfan Memorfsatlon aass: The memorlsation of the Qurfan Is considered an important element of
Teligious education and trainlng. We continue to provide this facility for those studying at Al Misbaah
Academy. We are pleased.with this programme which continues to run successfvlly with 28 young
students regularly attending this class. We have had a number of graduates from this program. who
has then gone ahead to lead prayers at various mosques around the U.K. Some of our graduates have
'now progressed into studying the Islamic Theology programme.
m"ryyah (Islamic Scholarshlp) Programme: The Allmiyyah Programme is an undergraduate level
programme in Shari ah (Islamic Law) and Islamic Theology. The program Is an in-depth study of
subjects such as Tatsir, Ha(fith, Fiqh and the principles of Tafsir, Ha￿th and Fiqh. It also includes an
adVan￿d study of dassical Arabic. The aim of the Alimiyyah curriculum is to produce scholars and
leaders who are competent in the Islamic sciences such as Tafsir and Ha(fith possessing the
professional skills necessary to serve, guide and lead the Muslim community with excellence. In
addition to imparting knowledge and skills, the curriculum, and the environment within which it is
taught is designed to produce scholars whose scholarship is marked by tradltlon, intelllgence. piety.
responsI￿111ty. and generosity of spirit, ensuring that we are not, simply producing academics and
professionals seeklng a career but are producing the selfless spirit that has always been so_
tharacteristic of Islainlc scholarship.. We are pleased to have had our first batch of graduates from this
6-year programme. A beautiful ceremony was organised to celebrate thls amazing athievement,
whith was attended by hundreds from the local community and beyond. Many of our graduates have
also been recruited In some capacity slnce and are playing vital role In helplng Al Misbaah Academy
serve the local and wlder"communlty.
Part-Tlme co11r￿. We operate numerous courses for both male and female adults wlthin the
mmunlty tallored to thelr requlrements and needs. Thls year at Al Mlsbaah Academy, we held the
followln8 courses:
Annuaj Tafdr Pro8ramme: Thls masslvely popular course ran throu8hout the month of
Ramadan at our slte In Sev¢n Kln8s, peakln8 at over 120 females In attendance. Thls Is an
Increase of fifty from the prevlous year.

Ramadan Youth Pro8rammes: These programs ran on the weekends throughout the month
of Ramadan dlscussin8 contemporary and relevant toplcs for the youth.
Youth Enrfchment Pro8rammé: Thls year was our slxth year of thls hlghly successful and
beneficlal programme aimed at teenager5', Studylng STrah, Ha￿1th, Islamic Jurisprudence and
Contemporary Issues. The alm of the course Is to provlde our youth wlth the tools to navigate
the modern worfd In a sound, balanced and hollstlc way, as encouraged by Islam. Our core
aims are twelve; Developing a Ilfe-lon8 zeal for learning, Instilling the love of Islamic
environments, buildlng leadership qualities, fosterlng prophetic charactéristics, provlding a
positive learning experience, facilitatlng crltlcal thinklng, opening doors to healthy friendships,
inspiring love of Allah, the Qurfan and the Sunnah, strengthening Iman (faith) and God-
consciousness, transforrning self-confldence, unlocking creativity and imagination and
empowerlng application of sound and rellable knowledge.
Communlty Events: We regularly organlse events and activities for the community to provide
opportunlties for cohesiori, tackling Issues of importance and strengthening ties within the local
community.
Recreational ActIvlti￿. We regularly arrange trips for our students and the general
community to venues such as; Chessington World of Adventures, Paintball Mayhem, Flip4)ut
Trampoline Park, Laser Ta& etc.
Al Mlsbaah Youth Centre (AMYC): After many years working on numerous youth-related
projects, we decided to embark on scaling up this projert and our efforts in the form of a
designated centre for the youth. We were able to acquire a 2400ft site on lease and the
primary focus throughout the year 2023 was to raise funds to complete the renovation and
purchase all necessary equipment. We aim to open our doors to the community in the
' summer of 2024.
Heaven at Your Doorstep: We once again were successful In organising our annual family
event held at Mayfair Banqueting Suite In Chadwell Heath which was attended by over 600
people. We were able to host world-renowned guests. The purpose of this event was to create
awareness regardlng AMYC and to ratse funds towards it.
Use of Volunteers
Voluntsers are an Important resource in both our falth and communlty work. They add great value to
theworkthat Al Mlsbaah Academy do and asslst us In achlevlng our mlsslon and objective& Volunteers
are Involved In the events that we organlse and we have a small team of volunteers who re8ularty give
thelr tlme to our cause. Our trustees also glve thelr tlme freely when requlred. We encourage
members of the communlty to share thelr skllls wlth others by Involvln8 themselves In our artI￿ltieS.
All volunteers workln8 wlth projects Involvlng chlldren or other vulnerable groups are DBS checked.

We also intend to organise more community activities for the purposes of rneeti￿ the growing need
for 4)iritual develoFxnent, providing opportunities for cohesion between Muslims of our c(Xixn￿lty.
our profile and increasing our reach. We alm to organise a large-scale family &inner for the
community with a ¥kafic theme and invite well-known guests to attrart a larger audience and allow
our community to benefft from them. We also aim to provide more free courses and lectures for the
c£Xnm￿lty. especially during the holy month of Ramadan, both specifically for adults and yvuth.
Shoukl the need for this prove to be popular, we plan to continue these thereafter and attract a wi
au(rIen￿ to benefit from our activities.
PriKlpal Sources of fvnding
The tharitrfs main source of income are madrasah fees, in the current period the incoming resources
for the period amounted to £601,056.
The continued generous donatlons provided by the users and supporters of the charity received in the
current period amounted to £6,949. Al Misbaah Academy Is deeply grateful for the ongolng SUPPOrt
and looks forward to your contlnued support In the future.
The trustees have revlewed the reserves of the tharlty. The alm Is to hold enough cash unrestrlcted
f￿ wittAn the reserves to cover six months of operatlonal expenses.
Currenty the charfty holds enough reserves to cover three months of operatlonal expenses.
The cwrert free reserves of the charlty are £166,841.

The Trustees are responslble for preparfng the Trustees, Annual Report and the financial statements
in accordance with appllcable law and Unlted Klngdom Accountlng Standards (Unlted Kingdom
Generally Accepted Accountlng Practice).

The prlnclpal accounting policies adopted, Judgements and key sources of estimation uncertainty in
the preparation of the financlal statements are as follows:
Basls of preparatlon (FRS102)
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by
charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts In
accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS
102) (effective l January 2015) (Charities SORP (FRS 102)), the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) and the Charities Art 2011.
Al Misbaah Academy meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102. Assets and
liabilities are initially recognised at historical cost or transartion value unless otherwise ststed in the
relevant accounting policy note(s).
Income
Income is recognlsed when the charity has entitlement to the funds, any perfomiance conditions
attached to the item(s) of income have been met, it is probable that the Income will be receNed, and
the amount can be measured reliably.
Income whether 'capltal' grants or 'revenue' grants, Is recognised when the charity has entitlement
to the fiinds, any performance conditions attached to the grants have been met, it is probable that
the income wlll be recelved, and the amount can be measured reliably and is not deferred:
Income recelved In advance of a project or provlslon of other specified service is deferred until the
criterla for Income recognltion are met.
Donated servlces and facilltles
Donated professlonal servlces and donated facilities are recognised as Income when the charity has
control over the Item, any condltlons assoclated wlth the donated Item have been met. the receipt
of economlc beneflt from the use by the charlty of the Item Is probable and that economlc benefit
can be measured rellably.

Fund accountlng
Unrestricted funds are available to spend on activities that further any of the purposes of charity.
Designated fvnds are unrestricted funds of the tharity whith the Trustees have declded to set aside
to use for a specific purpose.
Restricted funds are donations which the donor has speclfied are to be solety used for areas of the
tharit(s work or for spedfic projects belng undertaken by the tharity.
Expenditure
Expenditure is recognised once there Is a legal or constructive obllgation to make a payment to a third
party, it is probable that settlement will be required, and the amount of the obligation can be
measured reliably.
Irrecoverable VAT is charged as a cost against the activity for which the expenditure was
incurred.
Allocation of support costs
Support costs are those functions that assist the work of the charity but do not directly undertake
tharftable activlties. Support costs include back-office costs, finance. personnel, payroll and
governance costs which support the charl￿5 artistic programmes and activities. Support costs have
been allocated in proportion to expenditure incurred in undertaking an activity.

InOMdual fixed assets costing £5LX) or more are capitslised at cost and are depreciated over their
estimated useful economic INes on a reduang balance basis as follows:

Imam Suhall Patel is a trustee of the charity as well the CEO. As such he is remunerated for his dutles
as Chlef Executive Officer and not for his work as a trustee.
No other trustees have been remunerated for their services to the charity or any expenses which they
may have incurred to carry out their dutles as a trustee.
