Hunsonby Community Centre (Registered charity 1172712)
The trustees are pleased to present their report for 2023

Income from bookings was £1282 (2022: £2687). We have encouraged local use by offering discounted initial hire charges. The Centre has been used regularly for parties and family events. It has also hosted Yoga classes, painting classes, coffee/lunch mornings etc. We are grateful to Graham Lewis for managing bookings.

The main running costs are electricity and insurance. Electricity has fluctuated significantly but is now running at ca £1500 pa. Insurance was £1900, we will seek to find a lower quote. We have received grants from Hunsonby Parish Council and the Hutchinson Trust, which are much appreciated.

At the year end we held reserves of £6645 (2022: £6983) which represent around twelve months of running/maintenance costs.

We have upgraded the heating controls to allow remote control and provided two space heaters.

We continue to update our website and Facebook page and distribute the occasional Newsletter. We now have an external notice board. The ‘Hunsonby and Winskill 2020’ book continues to sell in small quantities.

The Walled Garden was prepared for the Platinum Jubilee in June 2022. It has been beautifully maintained by Chris and Jas Walker now with a ceramic welcome sign by Rona Short.

We held a successful Plant Sale in conjunction with the Swimming Pool and plan to do the same this year on 11[th] May.

Future plans include replacement of the metal fence for which two grant offers have been received.

We are grateful to all our funders, to the local community, to our trustees and helpers, and for the continuing support of Hunsonby Parish Council and the Joseph Hutchinson Educational Charity Trust.

We hope that one or two people will consider joining the committee which runs the Centre. We are particularly keen for someone to volunteer as secretary (arranging meetings and recording actions) and someone to take responsibility for updating the website and Facebook.
