Charitable Objectives:
For the public benefit, the
preservation and protection of good health among people
in Frome and the surrounding, area, including retired,
unemployed and those with health problems, through the
provision of facilities for hobbies, recreation and practical
interests, skills sharing and learning and conducting
community-based projects.
Overview of the Charity:
The Frome Shed offers workshop
space and tools including tools larger than used in most
home workshops. Members decide which projects that
they do. These include projects for members, individuals
and community organisations.

These are the main areas of public benefit undertaken by
the Shed.
• To share skills and interest, swap ideas and pass on
knowledge.

share concerns and discuss issues.
• Use machine and other tools on more challenging
projects
• Promote physical and mental well-being and meet
visitors to the Shed.

All current Frome Shed Trustees have read and taken note
of the Commission’s public benefit guidance and have
regard to it when making decisions and exercising any
powers or duties to which the guidance is relevant.

investment
Frome Shed Trustees have not considered any social
investment at present. Should any Social Investment be
considered the Trustees will seek advice and develop
policy in accordance with commission guidelines.
Contribution made by
volunteers
The Frome Shed has no employees and is run completely
by Volunteer Members. All the Duty Managers have
attended First Aid courses so that they can address any
issues should they arise. We have also run sessions so
members can make safe use of machine tools.

Achievements and Performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole.

The Frome Shed has run 131 sessions for the year. 51 on Mondays mainly with Women attending and 51 on Thursdays mainly with Men attending. 29 Wednesday sessions have been run for a smaller number of members who wish to learn woodworking skills and for a painting and drawing group. The weekly average of attending members is 35.

The loss of members for reasons other than their relocation has been very small and the views of those who attend continue to be positive.
