Objectives and Activities
Summary of the purposes of Charitable Objectives: For the public benefit, the preservation and the charity as set out in its protection of good health among people in Frome and the surrounding, area, including retired, unemployed and those with governing document health problems, through the provision of facilities for hobbies, recreation and practical interests, skills sharing and learning and conducting community-based projects. Overview of the Charity: The Frome Shed offers workshop space and tools including tools larger than used in most home workshops. Members decide which projects that they do. These include projects for members, individuals and community organisations.

These are the main areas of public benefit undertaken by the Shed.

Policy on grant making
No grants have been issued by the Frome Shed during this period.
Policy on social investment Frome Shed Trustees have not considered any social investment at including program related present. Should any Social Investment be considered the Trustees investment will seek advice and develop policy in accordance with commission guidelines. Contribution made by The Frome Shed has no employees and is run completely by volunteers Volunteer Members. All of the Duty Managers have attended First Aid courses so that they can address any issues should they arise. We have also run sessions so members can make safe use of machine tools.
Achievements and Performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole.
The Frome Shed aims to run 50 sessions a year for the Thursday Men’s Shed and another 50 for the Women’s Shed on Mondays. The Men’s Shed ran all 50 sessions with an average of just over 14 Shedders per Session. We have lost several members during the year, 2 having died one moved away from the area and an ex member and Trustee of the Shed set up a new shed in his home town of Gillingham in Dorset and one member left and joined that shed.
The Women’s Shed ran 64 sessions over 50 weeks with an average attendance of 12.5 per week. Extra sessions were run to suit availability and for particular skills.
The shed has done a number of projects for members of the community and organisations and these include.

Making or refurbishing benches for a neighbouring Church.

Building Notice Boards for the local council in connection with Town Twinning Gardens. Done by Men and Women’s Shed.

Building access ramps for disabled people

Several planters for local people

A repeat order of refurbishment of outdoor furniture for Frome Hospital.

Several Chair repair and refurbishment projects for local people.

The Women’s Shed has also carried out the following projects.

Bunting and Banner for the Town Council Great Big Garden Week.

Christmas Shopping Banner and Jubilee Bunting for the Town Council.
In addition the Women’s shed has held a MacMillan Coffee morning and held an Open Evening.

The shed succeeded in running the maximum number of sessions Achievements against and carrying out a number of community projects. As a carry over from the Covid restriction period we refurbished the men’s toilets in objectives set the building that we rent. This was part of an agreement with our landlady in exchange for a Covid rent free period. In addition the shed had an Air Filtration System installed to improve the air quality in the shed as the main workshop has no windows.
Improvements were also made to dust collection in the Machine Shop which also has no windows.

Expenses this year were £12.3k compared with £22.8k last year but last year’s expenditure was relatively high due to the installation of additional environmental protection equipment.
