## Thurrock Rugby Club Trustees Report 2025 (Season 2024/5)

Thurrock RFC provides rugby at every age group from 3 years old to Under 18’s rugby.

## **ADULT teams**

Men’s rugby has fielded three adult men’s teams which have regularly represented the club. The Men’s 1[st] team Finished top of the counties 1 Essex league having won all but one game. Thurrock are also through to the Counties 1 quarter finals.

Thurrock women’s team have played throughout the season maintaining their status as a Women’s championship side, the second tier of English Women’s rugby.

## **FACILITIES**

Thurrock Rugby Club’s function suite ‘BAR1928’ has been a huge success bringing much needed revenue to support community rugby in the area.

We have benefitted from the installation of floodlighting on a further 3 pitches allowing greater space for teams to train.

The grass pitches have been maintained to a very high standard thanks to the hard work of volunteers.

## **OTHER club activity**

Squash tournaments have continued throughout the year including Essex Squash League fixtures, along with social games.

Thurrock Nomad runners meet at the club before setting off.

This Season, the Club has hosted Essex County Rugby Under 16s, 17’s and 18’s, Saracen’s U16, Women’s and Men’s training and inter-county fixtures.

Thurrock Rugby football club host RFU Continuing professional development (CPD) training, first aid events and our facilities are used by Essex RFU disciplinary committee for player hearings.

## **RUGBY CLUB’s CIO finance**

The Rugby Club’s CIO income principally covers activity collecting membership registrations, collecting corporate donations and team sponsorships, volunteer fund raising via kitchen catering, club shop equipment, tournament fees, club team annual tours and presentation evenings.

Rugby Club’s CIO Income £163,800 is down 28% (£64,650) on last year £228,463. £24,200 of this reduction relates to the reduced contribution from the Trading Company. The remaining reduction of £49,500 can be attributed mainly to the expiry of the ‘one off’ £40,000 individual donation received in the previous season

The Rugby Club’s CIO final result after all costs and donations a deficit of £21,347 (last year: surplus £54,744).

## **In Conclusion**

Thurrock Rugby Football club is extremely grateful to all our volunteer coaches, administrators, referees, management resource who spend many hours each week to enable the Club to operate. Without their time and effort, we would not be able to operate.

Andy Stanford Chair of Trustees 23[rd] April 2026
