## Thurrock Rugby Club Trustees Report 2024 (Season 2023/24)

Thurrock RFC has a thriving Youth Section with Youth and Minis teams at all ages from 3 to u16 and a superb setup for Colts u18 rugby.

Seniors rugby has three adult men’s teams regularly representing the club, two senior T Birds ladies sides and a men’s Veterans side playing the occasional friendly fixture.

Both our T Bird ladies sides competed at Twickenham for their respective Papa John Pizza Cup finals with our T Bird 2s side emerging victorious against Sheffield but our T Bird 1s were defeated by a very strong Cheltenham side.

Off the pitch, Thurrock Rugby club is working well with the Orsett Heath Academy secondary school, our AGP pitch continues to be well used.

In addition, the refurbished cricket strip between pitches 2 and 3 has been used for school’s, Youth and Adult cricket games. Squash tournaments are held regularly in our squash courts and on many evenings the Thurrock Nomad runners meet at the club before setting off.

During Season 23/24, the club has hosted Essex County Rugby boys and girls u16, u17 and u18 training and county fixtures, Men’s and Ladies County fixtures. Six of our Colts at Thurrock have represented Essex during the season.

Thurrock RFC is licenced to host up to four outdoor events each summer. Some summers are busier than others in this regard.

Our club underage teams and their annual rugby tours in Springtime are a very important part of life at a community rugby club. Organisers put a lot of time and effort into making arrangements for these very enjoyable and memorable weekends away.

Thurrock Rugby Football club is extremely grateful to all our volunteer coaching and management resources who spend many hours each week looking after our teams. Ensuring that individual players of all ages play regularly and reach their full potential, is something the club takes very seriously.

Thurrock Rugby football club host RFU Continuing professional development (CPD) training and first aid events and is also one of the locations used by Essex RFU disciplinary committee for player hearings.

The club trustees would like to thank all staff, coaches, members, admin, grounds, kitchen, match referees and other officiating volunteers who add to the enjoyment of life at Thurrock RFC.
