The trustees present their report and the accounts of the charity for the year ended 30 June 2023.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing document
The charity is governed by its constitution adopted on 19 April 2017.
Recruitment and appointment of trustees
The total number of trustees will not be less than two in number. The individuals holding office as President, Treasurer and Secretary are the official trustees. Any further trustees shall be appointed by the club at duly constituted meetings. A co-operative trustee may be appointed to fill a casual vacancy at a meeting of the trustees to hold office until the date the trustee whose place he has filled would have ceased to hold office.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITES
Public benefit
The trustees confirm that they have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the charity’s aims and objectives and in planning future activities.
Objectives and activities
The objects as set out in the charity’s constitution are:

The advancement of citizenship,
-
Promoting the voluntary sector for the public benefit,

Promoting volunteering,
-
The relief of poverty and the relief of those in need in particular by providing humanitarian aid and disaster relief,
-
The advancement of health or the saving of lives,
-
Promoting the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment, and
-
Promoting community participation in healthy recreation.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
The charity has increased its fundraising activities during the year, running events such as the Christmas Fair, 1940s Evening and Race Night, enabling it to continue donating to charitable bodies, to further its objects.

FINANCIAL REVIEW
A surplus of £472.00 arose during the period. The funds at 30 June 2023 were £19,361.23.
The trustees are satisfied that the charity’s reserves are adequate to fulfil its obligations.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF BRIGG DISTRICT LIONS CLUB (CIO)
I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 30 June 2023, which are set out on pages 5 to 9.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiners’ statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or
-
the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

1. Basis of Preparation
The financial statements have been prepared and independently reviewed in accordance with section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 and SORP.
The financial statements summarise the transactions of the charity.
2. Accounting Policies
a) Basis of Accounting
The accounts are prepared under a receipts and payments basis.
b) Fixed Assets
Brigg District Lions Club Charity Trust Fund transferred the following assets to Brigg District Lions Club (CIO) which no value was attached:
