TRUSTEES' REPORT (CONTINUED) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MAY 2022
Achievements and performance
We supported our charitable pledge by growing the club by a further three girl's teams at age groups U8, U10, and U12, and an addional 4 boys' teams 2 x U7, U8 and Under 10.
We connued to invest in our future by delivering several weekly taster training sessions through the season, at the Under 6 age group, meaning that we can create a succession of teams at U7’s for the season 2022-2023. This has been a significant success and should lead to the even further growth of the club.
covering off grass maintenance scheduling, line marking and lier cleaning. The storage unit development had inially been reneged due to a change of line management within the Sports centre and the governance required to liaise with, and the complexity of the mulple operaonal boards within that organisaon, however we connue to persist in gaining approval of implemenng storage containers and converted containers into an office space. We did, however, make several purchases for addional storage via sheds, and invested in our own lawnmower, which can be used through the months where the current contract is paused (November – March).
Our presentaon day was once again an enormous success with a full day celebrang the success of our young players and allowing parents to mix and relax in a safe space.
league cup compeons, and a further 4 team winning their leagues, respecvely. During the easter break we also had several teams travel to external tournaments, represenng the club in tremendous fashion. We received fantasc feedback from the providers and other clubs on general player and parent behaviour, which is great to see.
Our coaching community connued to engage with each other, beginning with weekly football matches and then growing to the creaon of an Over 35 team, in a compeve league. There connues to be low levels of noncompliance versus required cerficaons, and authorisaons, as well as a drasc reducon in admin errors, and subsequent fines we receive from the league body.
The club at the end of this season consisted of 34 teams, which incorporated approximately 380 young children from the area and wider region. The new season 2022-2023 looks to consist of 46 teams containing approximately 450.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINERS REPORT
TO THE TRUSTEES OF NEWCASTLE BENFIELD JUNIORS FOOTBALL CLIB CIO
I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 May 2022 which are set out on pages 4 to 6.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
- (i) examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act
(ii) to follow the procedures laid down in general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
- (iii) to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Direction given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
- (a) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: (i) to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and (ii) to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act
have not been met; or
(b) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
