Annual Report of the Patricio Church Trust, 1 May 2022 to 31 April 2023

Charity Registration Number 1172640

Gelliwelltog, Forest Coalpit, Abergavenny, NP7 7LR

The trustees are: Robert Yorke (chair), Oliver Fairclough (treasurer), Mrs F J Maitland-Jones, and Rupert Edwards.

One trustee Dava Green, died during the year.

The trustees hold an annual general meeting once a year, and meet informally at fortnightly church services. Any member of the congregation is welcome to become a trustee, and it is hoped to appoint an additional trustee, replacing Denva Green.

During the year, the charity received an individual donation of £10,000 from a parishioner, another gift of £100, and interest payments of £573.30 on its banked funds. In the year 2021-22 the Charity invested £40,000 of its funds in the SUTL Cazenove Charity Responsible Multi-Asset Fund, and the income received was reinvested in the Fund.

No formal AGM was held during the year, but the trustees met remotely by Zoom, and reviewed their procedures and strategy.

The church is open daily and continues to be much visited by walkers and other visitors to the Black Mountains.

The purpose of the charity is ‘the advancement of religion and heritage by preserving and safeguarding the structure of St Issui’s Church, Patricio.’ Happily, as the church still remains in good repair, there was no call on the charity’s funds during the year. However, two items of minor concern were identified and it was agreed that remedial work costing approximately £5,000 would be funded by the Trust during 2023-4.
