## **Policy on Grantmaking**

In preparation of the annual budget, decisions are made concerning what shall be spent in and for Langa Township in the coming financial year. Also, within the operating year, a grant may be needed to be provide for an emergency, two recent examples being COVID, and a ravaging fire. Additionally, there have been several projects with time frames longer than one year, the current one being the SHOP Project (Succour-Hope – Optimism–Progress Project) – a new building for the Langa Early Child development Forum, target completion date Spring/ Summer 2025.

There is no investment in the UK based operation all facilities and utilities being provided by volunteers at their own expense. 

- There is an on-going programme of investment in equipment and preschool buildings in Langa, the programme conditioned by the size of funding available from the UK through LTPT.

Until the end of this financial year the LTPT’s UK Operation has been run wholly by the Chairman, supported significantly on the Financial/treasury side and the publicity and design side as featured in Section B, under the governance of, and with the advice of, the Board of Trustees.

**Summary of the main** To have launched successfully the three - year SHOP initiative, thereby **achievements of the charity** aiming to give significant support for the future development of the **during the year** mission of the Langa early Child development Forum, and its 39 preschools covering 3000 children. To have continued to support financially and managerially the work of the Nomonde Educare and its office, and to give major support to the Nomonde Pre-School, and to give food support for 5 other pre-schools in Langa’s Ward 52, and to have provided two grants to the Langa Early Child Development Forum. To have continued to extend our list of helpful contacts in Cape Town. To have established constructive links with the Clueit Foundation, registered in California with its base in the Isle of Man. To have visited Cape Town for the 10[th] time in 13 years to assess need, to establish ways to help and to promote co-operation and good will. To have remained solvent, and to have established a separate infrastructure fund to support investment in favour of pre-schooling in Langa Township. To have continued to re-establish an event programme following the two year COVID hiatus.
