As a registered charity (registration number 1172624), we are committed to making a positive and lasting impact on the lives of those in need. Since our inception, we have been able to provide aid and support to over 6.1 million families. We have done this through a combination of immediate aid in times of crisis and long-term sustainable development projects. We believe in working closely with communities to ensure that our efforts are tailored to their specific needs and that our impact is sustainable. We take the trust that donors place in us very seriously, and guarantee a 100Y. donation policy. This means that all funds received are used exclusively for the purpose for which they were intended, and we are committed to transparency and accountability in all our operations. We are proud of the progress that we have made over the last few years, and we look forward to continuing our work in the years to come. We are honored to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the world and we remain dedicated to our mission of providing hope and support to those in need. As Muslims, we are reminded in the Qur'an and through the teachings of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that charity and helping those in need is a fundamental aspect of our faith. We founded Humanity Without Borders with a clear and concise goal, to provide long-term support and sustainable solutions to the communities we serve. We understand that short-term aid is vital in times of crisis, yet we firmly believe that the key to truly making a lasting impact is by working closely with communities to empower and enable them towards self-sufficiency. Our unwavering ethos is to provide the necessary tools and resources that will allow individuals and families to stand on their own two feet. thus building a brighter future for themselves and their communities. l am pleased to report that at the end of this 2023 financial year, we were able to fundraise and distribute aid to over1.7 million families in more than f ifteen countries worldwide. Our efforts have resulted in real and tangible differences in the lives of millions, and we are eternally grateful to our donors and svpporters who have made this possible. KEY FACTS As a result, millions of Afghans, particularly women and children, are at a high risk of malnutrition and food insecurity. Our dedicated teams have been working tirelessly to deliver aid and support to those in need. Through tireless efforts and dedication, we have been able to make a positive impact on the lives of thousands of Afghans in need. In 2023, we embarked on our initial long- term projects in Afghanistan, where we effectively constructed new homes, aided orphanages, and implemented solar water wells for communities in need. We are now distributing aid in the following provinces of Afghanistan- Ghazni, Herat, Jalalabad, Kabul, Kandahar and Logar. DI5Tii¢uno 2fj22123 Did you know? We have provided aid to more than 98,000 families in Afghanistan this financial year. ANNUAL REPORT 2023 OUR WORK IN India India is home to 1.2 billion people and makes up for one-third of the world's poorest people, with more than 400 million people living in extreme poverty. The main causes of poverty in India are lack of access to education, healthcare, and basic services. DID YOU KNOW? KEY FACTS Humanity Without Borders are working in the following regions within India: More than 200 million people do not have sufficient access to food, including 61 million children. Assam Bihar Delhi Gujarat Uttar Pradesh West Bengal Over 73% of the population in India have no access to basic healthcare and medical facilities. Projects in India include construction of Masjids and homes for low-income families, education, food aid, medical aid, orphan support, sustainable living, water, and winter aid. WATEPPRQJECT FOODAID .f6UTION RAAIAD11121123 This fiscal year. your support has enabled us to construct over 160 hand pumps and deep water wells across India, ensuring access to clean water for communities in need. OUR WORK IN Z Lebanon ANNUAL REPORT 2023 The people of Lebanon are in dire need of assistance as the country continues to face one of the worst economic crises in recent history. As a result, poverty rates have soared with approximately one third of the population living below the poverty line. This is particularly difficult for those living in temporary shelters and for refugees, including many Syrian and Palestinian refugees in the country, who are facing extreme poverty and limited access to basic services such as education and healthcare. In February 2023, Humanity Without Borders achieved its most extensive deployment to date, mobilising a team of fourteen dedicated volunteers to provide crucial aid to thousands of families. KEY FACTS Lebanon is facing a huge economic crisis, with a staggering inflation rate of 560/. between 2009 and 2021. Over 78% of Syrian Refugees residing in Lebanon are food insecure- i.e. they do not know where their next meal will come from. We have already supported over 110,000 families in Lebanon this financial year. ANNUAL REPORT 2023 OUR WORK IN Pakistan Pakistan is a country located in South Asia, with a population of over 220 million people and is the world's fifth-most populous country. Pakistan also faces significant economic and social challenges, including poverty, inequality, and political instability. Did you know? Humanity Without Borders are working in the following regions within Pakistan: KEY FACTS The Balochistan province has one of the highest poverty rates in Pakistan, with over 85% living below the poverty line. Karachi Balochistan Punjab Sindh Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Over 20.5% of the population are now undernourished. Projects in Pakistan include construction of Masjids and homes for low-income families, education, food aid, medical aid, orphan support, sustainable living, water, and winter aid. This year, Humanity Without Borders installed over 200 hand pumps across Pakistan. rkn This fiscal year, our efforts have reached to 105,000 families across Pakistan, while also constructing more than 35 homes for families affected by the devastating floods of 2022. OUR WORK IN ( Palestine ANNUAL REPORT 2023 The Gaza Strip is a small coastal territory located on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea. It is home to over 2 million Palestinians, many of whom live in poverty and face a range of challenges. Access to essentials is all limited throughout Gaza- with 95°A of children in Gaza suffering from malnutrition. Humanity Without Borders has been delivering aid in Gaza for over seven years, reaching those most in need. The ongoing conflict and blockade have disrupted economic activity in Gaza, making it difficult for residents to access essential goods and services. Projects in Gaza include education, food aid, orphan support, sustainable living, water and winter aid. KEY FACTS Over 97Yo of water in Gaza is unfit for human consumption. Over 95/0 of the population in Gaza are food insecure know where their next meal will come from. i.e., they do not Did you know? Thanks to your support, we have provided aid to more than 103,000 families in Gaza this fiscal year. OUR WORK IN Syria ANNUAL REPORT 2023 The Syrian Crisis is one of the worst the world has seen. Syria has been ravaged by conflict and civil war for over a decade, leading to widespread destruction, poverty, and the displacement of millions of people. In 2023, a series of devastating earthquakes have hit southern hit southeast Turkiye near the Syrian border, resulting in 17 million families in need of emergency aid. This year marked the completion of the fourth phase of our Mother Fatima Village initiative, delivering 156 homes to Syrian refugees in Rural Latakia. However, the urgent demand for shelter persists. In response, we have started our second village, the Shaykh Junaid Mussa Rahimahullah Village in Rural Aleppo, providing refuge for 66 families. KEY FACTS Over 90% of Syrians live below the poverty line and more than 80% are food insecure. 21 million Syrians are now displaced both internally and as refugees in neighbouring countries. Did you know? We have already supported over 171,581 Syrian families this f inancial year. 10 OUR WORK IN Turkiye ANNUAL REPORT 2023 This year, in response to the devastating series of earthquakes in February 2023, we have extended our support to over 200,000 families in both Turkiye and Syria. Our assistance ranged from immediate emergency aid, such as hot meals, food parcels, and hygiene kits, to the construction of container and permanent homes for families facing dire circumstances. Humanity Without Borders have been actively engaged in humanitarian efforts in Turkiye for over five years, with a primary focus on assisting the Uyghur community. Shockingly, over 90Yo of Uyghur refugees in Turkiye live below the poverty line, grappling with the challenges of starting anew in a foreign land. KEY FACTS Nearly one-third of Turkiye's population is currently at risk of poverty. With your support, we have constructed over twenty forty-foot home containers across Turkiye. HU Did you know? Since the earthquakes in February 2023, we have supported over 200,000 families in both Turkiye & Syria. 11 OUR WORK IN Yemen ANNUAL REPORT 2023 Yemen is currently experiencing one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world, with over 85% of the population living in poverty and food insecurity being a major concern over 20 million people in Yemen need humanitarian assistance, including food aid. Since 2019, we have been consistently providing both short-term and long-term aid throughout Yemen. DID YOU KNOW? KEY FACTS At least 23.4 million people need humanitarian assistance in Yemen, this includes 12.9 million children. Humanity Without Borders are working in the following regions within Yemen: Since the 2015 conflict, there are more than 5 million families now displaced. 1.Aden 2.Hadramaut 3.Ma'rib 4.Sana'a 5.Taiz We supported 118,090 families this year in Yemen. 2022/23 Projects in Yemen include construction of Masajid and homes, education, food aid, medical aid, orphan support, sustainable living, water, and winter aid. 12 ANNUAL REPORT 2023 OUR WORK IN AFRICA HUfvlANirY WirHo£ATEOROER WHEELCHAIR DISTRIBUTION DARESSALAAM-TANZANIA DEPLOYMENT2029 lj'i, OUR WORK IN 3 Djibouti ANNUAL REPORT 2023 Djibouti, a small country in the Horn of Africa, struggles with widespread poverty and hosts a significant number of refugees. Refugees in Djibouti face significant challenges, including limited access to basic necessities and health risks. This year, we started providing crucial emergency food aid to those in need in Djibouti, offering immediate relief to vulnerable communities facing hunger and poverty. OUR WORK IN Kenya In Kenya, where over 48 million people reside, a third of the population struggles to survive on less than £1.40 per day. Food insecurity and droughts pose significant risks, especially for vulnerable communities, with malnutrition being the leading cause of death among children under five. This year. collectively we assisted over 20.000 families in Kenya by providing essential food aid. 14 ANNUAL REPORT 2023 OUR WORK IN Malawi Situated in Southern Africa, Malawi is landlocked, sharing its borders with Mozambique, Zambia, and Tanzania. Today, over 6.5 million people in Malawi are suffering from food poverty, this is more than the total population of the entire East Midlands. Over half the population of Malawi lives in poverty, with one-fifth in extreme poverty. Access to clean water, sanitation, and health care remain significant challenges for many Malawians, especially in rural areas. Humanity Without Borders have always been at the forefront in Malawi, with our base in Zomba- distributing aid to thousands since registering in 2017. KEY FACTS 70/0 of the population in Malawi survive on less than £1 a day We are now expanding our Malawi projects to focus on more long-term initiatives this includes constructing homes for families in need, as well as sponsoring education centres and teachers to foster sustainable livelihoods within communities. )NE FREilOV EMERGENCY CYCLONE FREL EMERGENCV P.YCLONE FRED "YERGENCV AMADAN 2023 MALAWI RAMADAN 202- MALAWI IAMADAN 2023 MALAWI Since our inception, we have already supported over 67,000 families across Malawi. 15 OUR WORK IN ANNUAL REPORT 2023 Mozambique Mozambique is home to over 30 million people, yet half its citizens live below the poverty line, struggling to access basic necessities such as food, clean water, and healthcare. Rural communities are particularly vulnerable, facing limited inf rastructure and susceptibility to natural disasters like cyclones and floods. HuMANlfYWIrnOVTBDRDFR RAMAlbA¢ 2023 MulAMe￿vE We have been working in Mozambique for a number of years, delivering aid to those in need across the most rural parts of Quelimane- this year you helped us provide aid to 5,000 families in Mozambique. OUR WORK IN Ll Somalia Half of Somalia's population, totalling 6 million individuals, requires urgent humanitarian aid, with nearly 3 million facing the imminent threat of famine. Tragically, Somalia's food crisis claimed the lives of approximately 43,000 individuals last year, with half of the victims being children under the age of five. We've been steadfastly delivering monthly food assistance to families in Somalia, supporting a total of 15,000 families during our 202212023 period. 16 ANNUAL REPORT 2023 OUR WORK IN Tanzania Poverty is a widespread problem in Tanzania, where over one third of the population lives below the poverty line. Thousands of families lack access to necessities such as clean water, education, and healthcare. Since 2017, Humanity Without Borders, have been working to address poverty in Tanzania through a variety of initiatives. These include distributing essential items like clothing and food, as well as supporting empowerment projects like providing agricultural and farming equipment and sewing machines to help people become self-sufficient. Our goal is to create long-term, sustainable change for those affected by poverty in Tanzania. We believe that by providing aid and empowering communities, we can help break the cycle of poverty and create a brighter future for all. KEY FACTS Over 70/0 of the population in Tanzania live below the poverty line. Poverty leads to hunger- over 42% of children under five in Tanzania suffer from chronic malnutrition. HuM*NirYwlY EmVO￿ERmE1Ir DISTRIPJ MASJID AM We have provided aid to more than 55,520 families in Tanzania this year. 17 ANNUAL REPORT 2023 OUR WORK IN U.NITED_KINGDOM Poundiao ANNUAL REPORT 2023 OUR WORK IN + United Kingdom Humanity Without Borders are dedicated to those in need across the United Kingdom as well as the entire globe. In 2021, around one in five people in the UK (20Yo) were living below the poverty line- 13.4 million people. Of these, 7.9 million were working-age adults, 3.9 million were children and 1.7 million were pensioners. Therefore, one in four children in the UK are living in poverty (27%). KEY FACTS Children from Black and minority ethnic groups are more likely to be in poverty: 46% are now in poverty, compared with 26 per cent of children in white British families. 49Yo of children living in lone-parent families are living below the poverty line. Since 2020, we have supported local food banks deliver over 63,700 food parcels. 19 MISCELLANEOUS ANNUAL REPORT 2023 UDHIYAH / QURBANI Qurbani, also known as Udhiyah or sacrifice, is the Islamic practice of sacrificing an animal, typically a cow, sheep, or goat, on Eid al-Adha. Every year, our relief teams worldwide sacrifice and distribute meat to millions worldwide, and for thousands of families this is the only time they have meat on their plates. RAMADAN FOOD AID Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is observed by Muslims as a month of fasting. During this time, Muslims abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs during the daylight hours, breaking the fast each evening with a meal called iftar. Ramadan is also a time for increased prayer, reflection, and charitable acts. Every Ramadan, Humanity Without Borders and our relief teams locally and worldwide this financial year, we supported over 122,361 families in need through our collective Ramadan efforts. WATER PROJECTS Giving water in charity, is an act of philanthropy that is highly valued. Providing access to clean and safe water can have a transformative impact on the lives of those in need. Water is a fundamental of life, yet even today millions of people have little or no access to it. In many developing countries, millions of women spend several hours a day collecting water from distant and often polluted sources. Humanity Without Borders are installing the following: Borehole A borehole is a mechanism which involves drilling deep into the ground to access clean water. The water is then powered up and a tap system is created. Ring Wells - A ring well can serve clean water for an entire community. Hand Pump l Tube Well- serve clean water for up to ten families. 20 Structure. I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. ## **Independent examiner's statement** The charity’s gross income has exceeded £250,000 and I am qualified to undertake the examination by being a qualified member of ACCA & ICAEW _._ I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect,: - the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act; or - the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or - the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
