## Treasurer's Report for 2021 ## State of Account The accounts for 2021 have undergone independent examination and were signed off on 31 January 2022. They have subsequently been uploaded onto the Charity Commission website as required by that body. As you can see from the Income & Expenditure Account, on 31/12/21 Faith in the Community currently had a 'real' bank balance of £37,943.82 and a cash balance of £49.19. However, £10,586 is unavailable under your Reserves Policy, and a further £485.16 is reserved for Covid-19 response, etc. You have already paid your share of over six month's salary for our Pantry Worker, so there is no need to have a reserve for this at this time. Therefore, at the end of 2021 you had £26,872.82 operating funds which equals 30+ weeks of food costs (estimated). May I caveat this again by pointing out that, during 2021, the bulk of the food that was issued was purchased and supplied by Fleetwood Together. Faith in the Community spent a relatively modest amount on food. ## Income You received £45,236.63 in income during 2021. Some of the biggest donations were Unrestricted: £11,000 from local Freemasons, £7,897.83 from the Co-op, £1,500 from North Fylde Rotary, and £1,000 from Fylde and Wyre District of the National Education Union. Restricted grants included £5,000 from the Sacred Heart of The Holy Child Jesus (it was for the worker's salary and has been used to that end), £5,000 from Wyre & Fylde's Covid Response Fund, £2,500 from Fylde Foodbank for rent. Of course, equally important to the charity were the many, many other donations both regular and one-off. ## Expenses The Income & Expenditure Account 2021 shows the expenses broken down into categories Food, Rent, Cleaning, etc. The largest single expenditure was £15,000 sent to St Peter & St David PCC as our contribution to the Pantry Worker's salary. The expenditure on equipment included some set-up costs e.g., a PC and monitor, two large freezers, etc. Over £3,000 was spent on additional food purchases. ## Income v Expenditure The Income & Expenditure Account 2021 shows that the charity had a surplus of £16,867.87. Again, I must point out that in 2022 when Faith in the Community separates from Fleetwood Together the expenditure on food will rise dramatically and a future surplus can in no way be guaranteed. ## Gift Aid During my tenure as treasurer, I have managed to get Faith in the Community registered with Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs as a charity eligible for Gift Aid. A nominated trustee can now access HMRC's system to claim Gift Aid. The Tustees recently appointed Mr Malcolm McLean as Gift Aid Co-ordinator for the charity. ## Miscellaneous The Trustees have elected Ms Martine Trickett to be the new treasurer following my retirement on 31 Dec 2021 and I have therefore handed over the duties to her. The formal changes at NatWest bank have been requested, but as usual they are taking some time. Ms Trickett will provide a Treasurer's Report for January & February 2022.
