|||kennel location which we rent. The<br>rehoming process may take more<br>than one visit, the dogs are able to be<br>returned to the Charity if the<br>rehoming doesn’t go according to<br>plan. We provide details of a local<br>trainer who can help with any issues<br>the adopter may fnd. If the dog is<br>particularly challenging, we pay for<br>the services of a trainer to help and to<br>give a better chance of the Adopter<br>being able to keep the dog in the<br>home.<br>**Fundraising**: through dog shows,<br>events, auctions, number boards,<br>scratch cards, merchandise sales,<br>rafes, One Lottery in order to raise<br>awareness of the Rescue and to raise<br>funds to cover running costs.|

Much of<br>this information is provided to a<br>potential adopter prior to them having<br>a Meet & Greet with the dog.<br>Wherever possible, our Trustees will<br>visit families and their dogs in their<br>home to try to help and see if the dog<br>can stay in the current home rather<br>than being surrendered to Rescue. We<br>have had some success in this area<br>which has been a win-win for the<br>family and their dog.<br>We also provide support/information<br>and in certain circumstances we will<br>pay for the frst visit of a Trainer to a<br>home even though the dog isn’t a<br>Lincs dog. We have taken the view<br>that it is better for all concerned to<br>keep the dog in the home if the family<br>will commit to working with the<br>Trainer to provide the structure the<br>dog needs and also to work on<br>unwanted behaviours the dog may<br>havelearnedthrough lackof|





structure. If a family is in crisis financially we have made the decision to help the family and provide food for their dog to help keep the dog in the home.

|Summary of the main<br>achievements of the charity,<br>identifying the difference the<br>charity’s work has made to<br>the circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any wider<br>benefits to society as a<br>whole.|Para 1.20|The period of this report has seen the<br>Charity take in and rehome 84 dogs 3<br>remaining in kennels or foster homes.<br>Our reputation is growing as we put<br>time and efort into the assessment<br>and rehabilitation of our dogs and as<br>a result, we fnd ourselves contacted<br>more and more to take dogs into our<br>care. There seems to be an increase<br>in our being asked to take young dogs<br>which may have been purchased<br>during lockdown; in addition, issues<br>faced by families caused by the rising<br>cost of living seems to be contributing<br>to the increased number of rehoming<br>requests received. When the family<br>circumstances change and the dog is<br>leftalone, behavioural issues can|





often occur. The Adopter profile has changed over the year with most adopters wanting easy dogs and, in some cases, they will not commit to putting in the effort required to integrate a Rescue dog into the home.  Because of the marked change in the Adopter profile, we have made a considered decision to keep the number of dogs in our care at any one time to four. We do not want any dogs to languish in kennels whilst we wait for a suitable Adopter, Dobies do not do well in kennels and we prefer not to operate in this way if possible.  Exceptions to this are in cases of emergency. We have also provided support for families who were originally aiming to rehome their dogs in the form of advice and/or training with the objective of keeping the dog in their home rather than surrendering their dog into Rescue. We are also offering to cover the cost of food for families who are struggling with the rising cost of living, at least in the short term in order that they are able to find a way to keep their dog in their home. When the dog is ready for rehoming our Rehoming Trustee completes an assessment including all the information provided by the former owner as well as what we know from the dogs’ time with us. This allows us to provide sufficient information to the potential adopter to enable them to understand the training they will need to carry on with/undertake when they take the dog into their home. She provides ongoing support to the adopter until the dog is settled in the home and we also provide and pay for a trainer to help the adopter and the dog to align with each other if necessary.  The adopter also gets access to additional training resources via email and on our Rehoming Group to ensure that they have information to support the dogs Rehoming journey. 

We have the use of a Registered Kennel facility when our foster homes are not available; we do try to ensure 



that dogs in need of additional support have the benefit of a foster home rather than a kennel environment. For the older dogs, those that come to us malnourished or have specific medical needs or behavioural requirements, we would always endeavour to find a foster home. The dogs in kennels are assessed prior to rehoming and a home check is undertaken. We use a Charity who have home checkers throughout the UK as logistically it isn’t possible for us to homecheck without their support.  A member of the team is allocated to be the contact with each adoption to ensure that the adopter has a point of contact for any eventuality. We also provide training support to families which adopt / foster any of our dogs on request so that they can understand how to help the dog to enjoy a safe and secure forever home. There have been no serious incidents reported during the period of this return.

|Review of the charity’s<br>financial position at the end<br>of the period|Para 1.21|Total receipts across all income<br>streams were £70,315.55, against this<br>we have signifcantly higher costs.<br>Adoption Donations have been lower<br>in this fnancial year as we made the<br>decision to reduce the donation<br>amount due to the impact of the cost<br>of living.<br>This has been compensated by our<br>small team of seven volunteer<br>fundraisers who work tirelessly to<br>raise money for the Charity to help<br>with the spiralling costs of food,<br>veterinary costs, kennelling etc.  We<br>have not worked with a professional<br>fundraiser, nor have we worked with<br>any commercial participators during<br>the period of this return.  We also<br>have a further eight unpaid<br>volunteers who assist with planning<br>events, undertaking homechecks,<br>transporting dogs and promoting the<br>work of the Charity.<br>All Trustees and Volunteers are<br>unpaid and volunteer their time and<br>expertise freely. Out of pocket<br>expenses, for example fuel when<br>transporting dogs, is paid at the fxed<br>rate of 40p per mile which is lower<br>than the rate designated by HMRC.<br>We are in a strong fnancial position<br>going into the next reporting period<br>and we have a strong reputational<br>baseto carrythe Charityforward.|
