Project Redsand CIO
Annual Trustees Report for period 01 January 2021 - 31 Dec 2021
Aims & Purpose
The charity aims to undertake the preservation and ultimate restoration of the Redsand Towers Army Sea Fort in the Thames Estuary, United Kingdom. The charity also aims to educate and inform the global public of the history and future of the Fort through the use of (but not limited to) Exhibitions, broadcasts, press, online and printed materials and resources. The charity will also provide access where possible to the Redsand Fort for historians, journalists, engineers, and when feasible, the General Public.
Achievements & Performance
Preservation and Restoration
The Charity has continued projects from the previous year namely finishing the windows in Room 1 And installing the windows in Room 2 , and the weatherproofing of the upper floor of tower G1 with previously constructed windows provided by the previous charity and new ones constructed by ourselves. We have also started insulating and replacing the hardboard wall panelling.
Unfortunately during this period we have had a number of break ins resulting in vandalism mainly the temporary bridge to the Control tower being destroyed by being cut down and the top main access ladder into G1 being cut off and removed.
Public Awareness
During this period the charity has yet again worked with multiple organisations in the TV and Film Industry, and has successfully carried out two filming activities namely with Dan Snow for the online program History Hit to be aired to the public in multiple countries. And a private company for a small historic TV series. These filming activities will yet again go towards raising awareness of the Sea Forts existence, history, and future for their global public audiences.
