Older People's Partnership Hull & East Riding
Report of the Trustees for the Year Ended 31 December 2020
The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 December 2020. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
To promote the voluntary elderly services sector for the benefit of the public in Hull and the neighbourhood by: -promoting effective partnerships in planning, commissioning, management and review of older people's services -facilitating partnership and co-operation in the voluntary elderly services sector.
Significant activities
- Bi-Monthly Partnership Forum
The Older People's Partnership Group (OPPG) consists of over 50 partner organisations in Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire that support, or deliver services or activities to the ageing population
We regularly have around 25 of the partners attend Bi-monthly partnership meetings.
We have Bi-monthly meetings at various venues hosted by different partner organisations. We share information, knowledge, service updates and also bring to life concerns or issues around older people services to help to improve pathways, services and opportunities for people in the near future.
The partnership is used to help cascade information to the general public and service users across Hull and East Riding through emails/signposting information, which is circulated to all partners including events for the ageing population plus any free training courses which are on offer.
- Older Peoples Partnership Celebration Hull October 2020
Due to Covid this event was unable to take place in person, however we did try and deliver it virtually , however the uptake of the virtual workshops where a bit low. This could have been due to the fact that a large portion of older people in the city do not have access to IT or the internet, or don't know how to use technology.
This prompted us to look at mapping organisations that can help moving forward, including Libraries, Pickering and Ferens Homes and KCOM.
Public benefit
The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in Section 4 of the Charities Act 2006 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit. We have referred to the guidance in the Charity Commission's general guidance on Public Benefit when reviewing our aims and objectives and in planning our future activities. In particular, the Trustees consider how planned activities will contribute to the aims and objectives they have set.

-
Increased Organisation support and Membership - memberships have increased to 50 +
-
Held 6 Partnership Forums over the financial year.
-
A successful Celebration of Older Peoples weeklong of Events in 2019 with a throughput figure of round 1300 people over the 3-day Celebration of Older Peoples event 2019.
-
We delivered the celebration week in 2019 to Cottingham to encourage East Riding resident to get involved. We held a small celebration event at the Civic hall in Cottingham which saw over 300 people through the door on the one day
-
Support for Countryside Walks - The countryside walks now are solely run by the walkers themselves. They now use their bus passes and public transport or car share to get to the start of the walks. We have seen an increase to a regular 20+ on each walk since this happened. The OPPHER support them via promotion and signposting, but there is no cost added to this great group now all self-funded and run by the participants.
ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Charitable activities
Still maintaining over 50 members of the partnership and have invited new services on board.
-
Held 6 Partnership Forums over the financial year virtually through Microsoft teams.
-
The partnership has supported and worked together to ensure our most vulnerable people in the city have a voice and also pinpointed those in need of befriending and signposting to services that can support. 2020 has been a tough year for everyone during he Covid pandemic and all partners have supported their service users in the best way they have been able to and committed to the bi monthly meeting to discuss plans for the future months.
The charity has continued to deliver and push for services in the city. The charity and its members will continue to look for gaps in provision and support in reducing those gaps where possible.
