| Contribution made by volunteers |
Para 1.38 | Volunteers We started the year with 17 active volunteers and continue to have 15 in place. We are hugely grateful for the great investment of time our volunteers make to engage with people outside of their normal sphere. This brings increased relationship, kindness, peace and community to a host of beneficiaries. |
Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | 2024 Mens Shed Twice each week on a Tuesday and Wednesday our Mens shed opens for a day. It is hugely popular and sees 17 men come together in community. Housed in a portacabin alongside The Kings Centre in Chessington we are both at the heart of the community and the heart of Church life. This year the portacabins have been replaced and doubled in number and capacity. The ability to get friendship and kindness from people who know they too are weak and yet loved by the Lord Jesus is transformative. |
Community Garden Although time investment is limited the garden space was able to be enjoyed throughout the summer. A number of beneficiaries and their families enjoy the opportunity to work in the garden. We had our own Garden tea party in September which was really well attended and a lovely day. We are so grateful to the volunteers for bringing their beneficiaries and for the team from Men’s shed. Befriending Although a reducing size we are always grateful for the huge impact the befriending service has on the individuals it serves. We saw 4 of our beneficiaries die through the year. At the end of the year we had 16 beneficiaries being visited by the team of volunteers. We are very privileged to be able to go into peoples homes and build meaningful friendships with them. Many have been supported to get out to community events, coffee shops, church services and Sharing Lives events. We thank God for the impact the service has. Portacabin - Mens Shed - Planning and grant application approved and replacement and extension completed in partnership with The Kings Centre. Mens Shed - 4 volunteer leaders on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays Holding a Trustee vacancy We had 3 Trustees meetings through the year:
