The Cheswardine Charity (2017) Charity number 1172514
ANNUAL REPORT 2021/22
The Cheswardine Charity (2017) came into being on 10.04.2017 following the amalgamation of several older charities whose common aim was to support the ‘poor of the parish’. Since 2015 potential trustees had discussed how best to distribute those charities’ monies: it was agreed to liquidate shares held, deposit the cash in the Charity’s current account, and open a linked deposit account.
Six trustees were appointed in 2017 comprising
-
✓ A Churchwarden
-
✓ The Team Rector
-
✓ One other from the PCC
-
✓ Three from the wider community
with the option to co-opt as necessary.
The Charity’s object is
The relief of hardship or need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial or other disadvantage for those living within the parish of Cheswardine or who, in the opinion of the Trustees, have a strong connection with Cheswardine, by addressing both the causes and the consequences of that hardship. This will be enabled through
-
✓ Grants of money
-
✓ Provision of goods
-
✓ Payment of services
-
✓ The promotion of social inclusion through counselling and provision of appropriate facilities.
There have been two grants made in the 2021/2022 year, being one of £400 in January 2022 to a local student to cover two term’s university expenses. Another of £75 was made in March 2022 to a parishioner for a medical procedure plus travelling expenses. Deliberations on both of these applications were made via email due to Covid restrictions.
Income for the year was £6.03 – interest on the deposit account.
As of July 2022 there is £40,206.36 on deposit and £1397.21 in the current account. The charity continues to advertise the availability of funds for grant aid.
