SORP reference
Summary of the Para 1.17 To promote asset based community-
purposes of the charity led development: providing evidence-
as set out in its based training and experiential
governing document learning designed to create and
connect place-based partnerships
between residents and service
providers in very low-income
communities, such that residents are
able to identify and meet their own
needs. This work began in 2004 and
has led to a national network of
community-led partnerships and hubs
hosting easily accessed support and
workshops. C2NN partnerships work
by releasing latent social capital,
leading to greater social cohesion and
increased levels of health and social
well-being. The C2NN ethos is that
local people should always be at the
heart of decision making where they
live.
Summary of the main Para 1.17 and Our website gives an understanding of
1.19
activities in relation to our core work and values.
those purposes for the www.C2connectingcommunities.co.uk
public benefit, in
particular, the activities, The main activity of the C2NN central
projects or services hub has been to strengthen the online
identified in the provision of support, information and
accounts. learning provision, as well as ‘real-life’
stories. During pandemic restrictions
our network proved to be highly
effective in providing peer support and
mentorship to and between our
networked partnerships via twice
weekly ‘network natters’. These have
continued post-pandemic.
**----- End of picture text -----**
The focus of project work has been in
Surrey, Glasgow, Torbay and
throughout Devon and Cornwall.
Service providers using C2NN support
are mainly housing associations,
public health departments, the police
and violence reduction units.
This year has included detailed
planning for a Community
Engagement Summit to be held in
Exeter in September 2022. This will
bring together a diverse range of
people and organisations, providing a
mix of theory and practical examples
of C2NN’s work. It is also an
opportunity for the sharing of ideas,
and personal networking.
Our Chair, Hazel Stuteley, is seeking a
less hands-on role whilst remaining
fully committed to C2NN’s continuing
work. We are working collectively to
effect a seamless transition, which
includes developing roles for a wider
group of core people within C2NN.
Lessons learnt from the covid
pandemic have been incorporated into
this process.
Statement confirming Para 1.18 All C2NN trustees have followed
whether the trustees Charity Commission Guidance on
have had regard to the public benefit, since the CIO began.
guidance issued by the New trustees receive a
Charity Commission on welcome/induction pack with relevant
public benefit information on their responsibilities.
**----- End of picture text -----**
Our initial working
assumption was that grants were
essential to supporting our core work.
However, we have concluded that
grant funders either do not
understand or are unwilling to support
our ultra-local approach, which
intentionally rejects the time-limited,
project-management focus of typical
grant funding. We would consider such a
relationship, but at this stage have
made a strategic decision not to
actively seek grant funds.
**----- End of picture text -----**
