Objectives and Activities

Aims and Objectives

The PSA Foundation exists to positively impact the squash community by:

Our activities during the year were aligned with these charitable purposes and aimed at delivering sustainable social impact through squash.

Significant Activities

Women in Coaching Fund

The Women in Coaching Fund continued to drive progress for gender equality in squash by supporting female leadership development.

Key outcomes in 2024 included:

Inaugural Squash Summit 2024

In partnership with the World Squash Federation, the Foundation delivered the first-ever Squash Summit during the British Open.

The event convened representatives from federations, clubs, and SDOs worldwide to discuss strategies to increase global visibility and participation in squash and opportunities linked to squash’s inclusion in the LA28 Olympic Games.

Community Activations at PSA Events

To broaden access to squash, the Foundation delivered community engagement activations at PSA tournaments across England.

Over 1,000 children participated in introductory squash sessions, delivered by qualified coaches and targeting inner-city schools and underserved communities.

Women’s Squash Week 2024

Women’s Squash Week focused on the theme “Championing Women’s Voices.”

The campaign generated strong engagement, with over 279,000 video views and 150,000 social media impressions.

Supporting Development Through Grants

With support from the Britford Bridge Trust, the Foundation provided targeted assistance to several SDOs including Squash Dreamers, Khelshala, and Egoli Squash.

Advocacy and Awareness Campaigns

The Foundation continued to champion inclusion, wellbeing, and representation through campaigns during International Women’s Day, Pride Month, and Time to Talk Day.

Mental Health Support for Players

The Foundation delivered 75 fully funded counselling sessions for current and former PSA Tour players.

Rebound Equipment Redistribution Programme

The Rebound programme redistributed 1,738 items in 2024. Since launch, more than 6,000 items have been distributed globally.

Professional Squash Association Foundation Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of Professional Squash Association Foundation For The Year Ended 31 December 2024

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 31 December 2024.

Responsibilities and Basis of Report

As the charity trustees of the Company (and also its directors for the purposes of company law), you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 (“the 2006 Act”).

Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the Company are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of your charity’s accounts as carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the 2011 Act’). In carrying out my examination I have followed the Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act.

Independent Examiner's Statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Company as required by section 386 of the 2006 Act; or

  2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

  3. the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair view' which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or

  4. the accounts have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice for accounting and reporting by charities applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102).

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

1. General Information

Professional Squash Association Foundation is a company limited by guarantee, incorporated in England & Wales, registered number 10236715 and registered charity number 1172490. The registered office is 46 The Calls, Leeds, LS2 7EY.

2. Accounting Policies

2.1. Basis of Preparation of Financial Statements

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) "Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019)", Financial Reporting Standard 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" and the Companies Act 2006.

The charitable company is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.

2.2. Fund Accounting

Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees.

Designated funds comprise unrestricted funds that have been set aside by the trustees for a specific purpose.

Restricted funds are to be used for specific purposes as laid down by the donor.

2.3. Incoming Resources

All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.

2.4. Resources Expended

Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources.

2.5. Tangible Fixed Assets and Depreciation

Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost of the fixed assets, less their estimated residual value, over their expected useful lives on the following bases:

2.6. Taxation

The charity is exempt from tax as all its income is charitable and applied for charitable purposes.

2.7. Pensions

The charitable company operates a defined pension contribution scheme. Contributions are charged to the Statement of Financial Activities as they become payable in accordance with the rules of the scheme.

The charitable company's ultimate controlling party is the Professional Squash Association.
