Chairs Report 2024-2025

Its been an interesting 12 months with some great news and more turbulent times as well.

Casper has done well with his rehab and has now returned to sessions. He does sessions on all 3 RDA days and is holding up well. His cheeky temperament is at an all time high!

Freya’s injury was a huge blow! The difficulty in veterinary care for such a large horse was also a learning curve and would certainly affect my judgement in purchasing such a horse again in the future. She is doing well and is in the final stages of her rehab so fingers crossed.

Our virtual show was good fun and I hope to do one this year with a Christmas theme and maybe hold the videos as part of a Christmas awards party.

It was a shame that National office removed the horse care awards from our regional show, not even being informed of this meant we had little time to plan a trip to the nationals at Hartpury which understandably is quite a trip for many.

Participants are doing really well. We are on a wait list for Saturdays. Now Casper seems settled I feel a little braver to open up the rest of the sessions available. This is only 2 on a Wednesday morning and early afternoon.

Accounts are looking strong with good savings but with the constant uncertainty of our new government and prices always increasing I do feel care needs to be taken, especially with the prices of electricity and grain prices - with many RDA ponies requiring steamed hay and more tailored feed.
