PROMOTE THE CONSERVATION, PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE PHYSICAL AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT INCLUDING BIODIVERSITY OF LEA BROOK VALLEY.

ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE CONSERVATION, PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE PHYSICAL AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT INCLUDING BIODIVERSITY OF LEA BROOK VALLEY.

Structure, Governance and Management

The governing document of the Charity is a constitution which was last amended on the 29th March 2017 and reviewed 31[st] March 2022.

As a small charity, there has hitherto been no need for a formal structure, although this may change as the work of the Charity expands. The trustees meet twice a year to transact the business of the Charity. There is also frequent contact between trustees by email and phone calls. A number of trustees attend the Lea Brook Valley Green Team meetings which enables due diligence to be carried out on how funds sent to LBV Green Team Projects are spent, there is also regular contact with other Lea Brook Valley Green team members through CTDD.

Financial Policies and Financial Review

The Charity has set aside 5% of all general fund receipts into a general fund account to meet expenses. At the 31st of March 2023 the accumulated general Fund amounted to £21927.26, this takes into account restricted funds.

During the financial year under review, the Charity has not held any funds as custodian trustee for others.

The charity continues to keep up to date with its responsibilities and current financial controls.

Achievement and Performance

The construction phase for the Yorkshire Water Bio Diversity project started in November 2018, and was completed 1[st] May 2019. The charity continues to maintain the site and enhance the BNG. Recent studies have been carried out with the University of Sheffield with regards to reduction in surface water pollution runoff and Typha ? phragmites. These findings were published and showcased at the 2023 Urban Drainage Conference held in Birmingham.

The viewing platforms continue to allow pedestrians to connect with the site without encroaching on the natural habitats, thus protecting the biodiversity of the site and its four buffer zones.

Woodland Walk and outdoor educational facility, located at the rear of Dronfield Civic Centre. This project was completed earlier in the year and continues to offer good access to and from the Dronfield Junior School, without the need for motor transport.

All projects carried out in the Lea Brook Valley enhance the Social Capital value of the Lea Brook Valley and the wider community of Dronfield. The trustees continue to have due regard for their duty to comply with guidance of the Charity Commission on public benefit in the exercise of their powers or duties.
