## **Annual Report for the financial year 1[st] April 2021 to 31[st] March 2022** ## **Introduction** The Lea Brook Valley CIO is a registered charity (number 1172290) The current trustees are: - Dr Anthony Noble Bethell Mbe - Bold, Rev Peter Edward - Rev David Walker (Chair) - Debbie Alston - Hannah May Pearson (Treasurer) - Cllr Mark David Foster - Wendy Mary Temple ## **Purpose and Main Activities of the Charity** PROMOTE THE CONSERVATION, PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE PHYSICAL AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT INCLUDING BIODIVERSITY OF LEA BROOK VALLEY. ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE CONSERVATION, PROTECTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE PHYSICAL AND NATURAL ENVIRONMENT INCLUDING BIODIVERSITY OF LEA BROOK VALLEY. ## **Structure, Governance and Management** The governing document of the Charity is a Constitution which was last amended on the 29th March 2017 and reviewed 31[st] March 2022. As a small charity, there has hitherto been no need for a formal structure, although this may change as the work of the Charity expands. The trustees meet twice a year to transact the business of the Charity. There is also frequent contact between trustees by email and phone calls. A number of trustees attend the Lea Brook Valley Green Team meetings which enables due diligence to be carried out on how funds sent to LBV Green Team Projects are spent, there is also regular contact with other Lea Brook Valley Green team members through CTDD. 1 **Annual Report for the financial year 1[st] April 2021 to 31[st] March 2022** ## **Financial Policies and Financial Review** Since 2021, the Charity has set aside £2500 of all general fund receipts into a general fund account to meet expenses. At the 31st March 2022 the accumulated general Fund amounted to £2500, this takes into account restricted funds set at £17050.28. During the financial year under review, the Charity has not held any funds as custodian trustee for others. Post Covid, it has taken time to reengage with all volunteers, and peer organisations. This has resulted in a continuous delay in projects being completed. The trustees are pleased to announce the long-awaited School Walk project was completed in this operational year. The LBV green team continue to work enthusiastically in delivering the core values of the charity, and feedback to the board of trustees on a regular basis. The charity continues to keep up to date with its responsibilities and current financial controls. ## **Achievement and Performance** The Yorkshire Water Bio Diversity project started in November 2018, continues to grow with maturity. A number of species have been reintroduced into the valley, records of which are kept and where possible reported on via https://irecord.org.uk/ In February 2019 the large pond was cultivated, and 30% of the Reed-Mace removed and replaced with a more common Phragmites Reed. The future management of the Reed is to be first considered with the University of Sheffield. Feedback is expected from the studies later in 2022. The viewing platforms adjacent to the SuDS Asset continue to serve pedestrians allowing them to connect with the site without encroaching on the natural habitats, thus protecting the biodiversity of the site and its four buffer zones. The school walk at the rear of Dronfield School was finally completed and is now fully useable, including the wider and extended path network. A 25 Year lease agreement has been signed between Lea Brook Valley Cio and Yorkshire Water.
