The main activity to be undertaken for public benefit is the provision of the artwork as set out in the organisation’s objects and the provision, medium term and longer-term, of publicity and educational information associated with the artwork about WB Yeats and the history and heritage of Bedford Park. The trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.

The advancement of education has been significantly developed in the year 2022-2023 and ongoing.

Section D Achievements and performance

Artwork: The project achieved its primary objective on 6[th] September Summary of the main 2022 with the unveiling at the entrance to Bedford Park, of the Yeats- achievements of the charity inspired artwork #EnwroughtLight by Conrad Shawcross RA with during the year speeches by Rowan Williams. poet and former Archbishop of Canterbury, and Martin Fraser, Ambassador of Ireland to Great Britain with, in attendance, Ms Rosi Prescott, Deputy Lieutenant, Mayor of Hounslow, Cllr Raghwinder Siddhu, chair of the project, Fr Kevin Morris, Vicar of St Michael and All Angels, Bedford Park, Chief Sanga Nyaka of Great Britain and Head Monk at London Buddhist Vihara, Ven. Seelawimala, sculptor Conrad Shawcross, project Trustees, committee and patrons, together with 250+ members of the public. Music was provided by musicians from Irish Heritage and children from five local schools read Yeats poems. An evening reading of Yeats poetry was given by Jeremy Irons, Ciarán Hinds, Sinéad Cusack and Ruth Negga under the direction of Shevaun Wilder courtesy of Lord Saatchi and the Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation. Education: Poetry workbooks/lessons based on the young Yeats’s life and his Bedford Park poems have been used in five local schools with children from each reading at the unveiling. Visitor Experience: On 28[th] January 2023 (the 84[th] anniversary fo Yeats’s death) broadcaster Jeremy Vine launched our smartphone visitor trail Discover Bedford Park with WB Yeat s. focused on the artwork #EnwroughtLight and taking phone/personal-device users around eight great Yeats poetry places in the immediate locale, each with directions, images, a short talk on the Yeats/Bedford-Park context/inspiration, and, at each, a Yeats poem on audio by 2022-Oscar-and-BAFTA-nominated actor Ciarán Hinds . Video: In April 2023 we launched a social-media/YouTube video to promote the artwork, the visitor experience and Bedford Park itself as a place of cultural history and contemporary creativity.

Events: In addition we celebrated Yeats’s birthday with a (14[th] June 2023) poetry evening at the Yeats family’s former parish church, St Michael and All Angels, Bedford Park, on Yeats’s birthday with author Marina Warner and London and local poets, and a (13[th] June 2023) lecture for the William Morris Society at Kelmscott House on the Yeats family and William Morris.
